Title: Feb Phillip Island vids
Post by: tjb0274 on February 04, 2012, 09:55:37 PM
To get the ball rolling, here's a vey lo res (testing whether youtube is going to display my uploads properly) clip of me spinning at Lukey Heights. Looking forward to some clips of Ben's outing at turn 12....

Unfortunately that's less impressive on video than it was looking out the windscreen - the sunvisor dropped down and obscured the trails of tyre smoke and the 4 black lines I drew...

Hopefully Marcus has an external view of it...

The ending could have been worse, just ask Stuart ( circa about 3years ago backwards into the pit wall).

That's impressive - well done to get on the brakes so quickly. It actually looked a bit more spectacular from outside the car, so it will be interesting to see Marcus's footage.

Hey Ray, I see your Auto Forward Pointing System works really well and accurate.

Mine needs a bit of calibration.

Like this:

You put the youtube video id, in this case "-Y17TeSOayg" in-between the youtube tags.  It probably didn't work for you because you dropped the leading hyphen.  The iframe tags you posted get escaped, so don't work.

You want to be careful asking questions like that...  ;D

But I'm happy to go with something on the track, after leaving a couple of trenches in the kitty litter out there as well  :P

Neil, you seem to be selecting 5th gear at the wrong end of the straight - are you sure you put the right motor in?  ;D

Here is one, putting the pressure on HMD and having some fun and practice, with a couple of guest appearances and a spectacular, about 11:15.

Oh, he got me back in the end with some pressuring.

Enjoy.

Still learning the car.

Dunno about spectacular, you strategically positioned HMD's car so my slide couldn't be seen, just looks like I thought Siberia was a right hander!  ;D

Come on Marcus! Footage!

It's all pretty boring stuff man. The card ran out of space just after I overtook you in last run.

Speaking of boring . I had a bit of trouble with the camera on the weekend and this clip is all i managed to salvage. No other alfa's just chasing a clubman. The Alfetta always gives a good account of itself under brakes.

Finally figured out why youtube was corrupting all my video uploads (thankyou google for burying the key info about your transcode process deep in a thread on your help forum that doesn't appear in the first 20 pages of search results....).

A few laps of dicing with the Shannon and Blanden cars....

Something to embarrass Damon about (or perhaps myself!!!).

Well, my cunning and devious plan to make Damon go slower failed, as a certain person foiled my plan by discovering the limiter I put in.

Here is the result, some mistakes with getting use to engine revs and gearbox.  Lines generally ok.

Nice engine note, Neil  :)

Quick lapping... There's some footage in your clip of Damon passing me at turn 11 - here's how quickly he disappeared afterwards:
