Hi All,

I bought the car from Mike in Tassie and brought it back to Victoria early Dec 09.

The word Nears in car Nears completion is relative.

Here's the low downs:

Good bits:
- Car got PACE motors, exhaust and 48 Webbers.
- Malvern Motorsport cage.
- Wheels and near new track tyres.
- Body reasonable condition with some surface rust (being taken care of hopefully before mid Jan)
Not so good bits:
- Body reasonable condition with some surface rust (being taken care of hopefully before mid Jan)
- Second gear is toast, no lsd.
- Street Suspension (have since put in PACE torsion bars, rear spring and rear Konis, front sway bar)
- Some of wirings and fuel hose work is a bit DIY stuff will need to be redone.
- Race seats not to my liking and how it's been bolted in is also a bit DIY.
Things on the todo list before Mar 2010:
- rear swaybar, all 4 konis revalved.
- twin spark gearbox with lsd
- Seats
- 5 points harness
- Minor (I hope) rust repair
- Kill Switch
- interior clean up
- CAMS group S log book
There are plenty of other things to do but right now timing and budget wise this will have to do

I had the car out for AROCA Dec 13th sprint, and being in an Alfa for the first time, on the road or the track, I was very apprehensive.
I was expecting something to fall off or fail during the day but it all went well which was very pleasing.
And the best part about the car was definitely the PACE engine, its a little beauty.

Welcome hmd!

I told you they were a good thing!!  Great to have another Alfa running in Group S in Victoria......2010 should be impressive.  There should be at least 6 at most rounds now.

I'm so very very tired......I got confused with all the Tony's, I figured there must have been multiple Hung's too. Ummm would you believe (in your best Maxwell Smart voice)

I'm sorry, there's no Chris on the list - have you considered changing your name to Tony?

Unfortunately I can't make it to the Island this year.  I have to work and my boss is an arsehole of the ocean going class.

I wonder if this being Alfa's 100yr birthday and/or this other fact has anything to do with the swift processing...note question 5;

PS I am not suggesting any favoritism just consideration that's all  ;)

Well that is a magnificent result.  My new car is a year off.  But all in all that is senasational to have that many Grp S logged and ready to go.

Well done to all.

hmd, it looks fantastic.  Really well finished.

Maybe I should get in touch with Paul to help me finish off mine, it has always bugged me that my stripes are not quite 'finished' at the front underneath the grille and the back below the bootlid.  But I did them myself and could not figure out how to make it work around the angles without looking...well...crap.

Phil,

Paul can easily add the finishing touches to your stripes.
He's on the forum regularly and perhaps would chime in.

I love the stripes on my Alfetta GT. They are periwinkle blue metallic on periwinkle blue metallic. There are so good you can't even tell that they are there..!  ;D

Now I feel that I really belong here and I don't have to suffer Racing Stripe Deficit Syndrome anymore.  ::)

I have more than enough stripes on my fancy helmet to compensate for my lack of stripes on my Alfetta GT...  ::)

Wow how time flies, 3 years down the track and so far all I have done to the car is fix bits that broke and lighten the car with plastic windows.

Over this holiday period I am planning on doing a few small things like:

- Overhaul front calipers, strip off racing red flaky paint and leave the calipers unpainted.
- Fit small PC680 Odysey battery.
- relocate fuel pump to the rear, currently under driver side and too close to road when off-roading ;)
- Buy an in-car camera and mount it.

Engine is a little tired and budgetry constraint mean it will need to last for another 12 months before a minor refresh.

What everyone's plan for their group S cars?

Yes Hung time flies. 4 years now for me and finally all my mechanical and engine performance development has been refined and the car drives great. Summer months for me is to fit a Pollycarbornate rear window, attend to some panel damage, freshen up the cosmetics under the bonnet and a new paint job. It's got to be more shiny........go faster.

Yep, my refinement process is I break it, I replace it.  Just waiting for the next thing to break as I have just about replaced every bit on the entire car thus far save the nut that holds the steering wheel and that day will come shortly!!!

Awaiting budget allocation ;)
