Title: For Sale: 1994 Alfa 164 24v (QV)
Post by: alfa75gta on July 03, 2011, 10:05:21 PM
This is one of a handful of 164 24v's that were imported by Brian Foley in the mid 1990's, from Hong Kong.  I believe this is one of 3 Green Cloverleafs (QV's) that he brought out, and the only red one.  One other was grey, and another black.  I know that there is another red car in Australia now, it was imported from the UK just a few years ago when its original owner immigrated.  It doesn't have the features of my car however, for example the Recaro interior.

Where can I start. This car is in magnificent condition and is immaculate throughout.  It has won the Victorian Spettacolo concourse more than once, and I doubt one could find a better 164 anywhere! It is a big statement to make, I know, but I believe its well justified.

It features:

3.0 V6 24v engine, fitted with GTA cams and a Powerchip. Produced 191 hp at the wheels at the Beninca Motors dyno day last week.  Using the 30% rule this equals 247 fly-wheel hp. (230hp standard).  It has lots of grunt! Very fast car, and period road tests had the cars see 150+mph. The engine is very strong, has been serviced every 5000kms for most of its life by Alfpa Repairs. It had its cam-belt service and plugs replaced last service.  5 speed manual, all syncro's are working fine, and the clutch causes no problems. Koni shocks at all four corners (more effective and more reliable than the original electronically adjustable dampers). ABS. Almost brand new Bridgestone Potenza Adrenaline tyres. It recently had a bare-metal respray by Paul Rankin (Rankin's Panels). electric 2-way sunroof. electric mirrors which fold in when parked. rear sun blinds and climate control air-con'. It is fitted with a factory (rare) black Recaro interior, including heated, 8-way electric front seats and a CD head-unit. new rear (OEM) muffler and a brand new Valeo radiator, air-freighted from Germany. Features unique headlights and 16" wheels, as only fitted to the 24v cars and I'm sure I've forgotten to mention other features, etc etc...

153,000 original kms.  The car will be supplied with 12 months registration and a Road Worthy Certificate.  This is a very unique car, the one and only quite like it in the country and is wonderful to drive - much different to the 12v cars.

$16,500

More photos but please note:

These are over-exposed and give false colour shades.  The interior leather is black (it looks grey in the photos) and has no bleaching. It is in excellent condition. The carpets are charcoal as is the dash.  I will fit the original steering wheel to the car before sale - itself in excellent condition, and a unique wheel to the 24v QV.

To anyone who is in a position to purchase this incredible car!

I tissue my eyes as I write, having owned one of these 24V Brian Foley beasts
two long years ago. 'The Black Stallion' I called it.

Due to a very unfortunate t-bone at 80kmph (in a 60 zone) by a toothless VR Commodore driver
my mint example was retired to the paddock in the sky in Nov '09.

I have owned a few cars and none have been as charming or satisfying to drive as this.
Mine wasn't the QV but boy, was that 24V engine a banger. Plus these have road presence
and unmatched-for-the-era X-factor in spades.

'It's like an M5' was the comment, or '@#%$' mostly. Especially with the visceral howl in 'Sports mode'.

I can only imagine this red devil looks even better in the flesh and drives accordingly.

House prohibits purchase but for anyone else,
don't miss this car!
