Title: The old story, Air bag light has come on
Post by: ALFAAA on March 30, 2011, 08:11:17 PM
Hi All,
Yesterday afternoon I jump in my 2004 V6 spider, and when I started the engine the dam airbag light did not go out  :-[
I have a Maxscan GS500 Diagnostic reader which can reset error codes.
I was just wondering has anyone used one , and do they work. ???

My equivalent device will reset engine codes but not airbag ones.  If yours is a 916 model have you checked the cable connectors under the seat, they can come loose after seat adjustment.

But before you do anything, disconnect the battery so that the car computer doesn't know its being mollested, if you disconnect something with the battery, it knows straight away their is a loose connection and will throw up an alarm, disconnect the battery, put the connector back together and the computer hopefully won't know, i disconnect the battery when i bleed the brakes otherwise it will throw up an alarm that there is a fault in the braking system, and sometimes you have to go to a dealer to have it reset, Colin.

Yes I have checked the connections and they seem ok,
My Diagnostic reader cannot reset the air bag light,It actually shows no error codes.
I have disconnected the battery but have had not luck.
Does any one know if there is a diagnostic reader in the market that can reset the air bag lights on Alfa's as this wont be the last time it will happen. :-[
