Title: Oran Park
Post by: alfagtv58 on July 04, 2007, 10:48:39 AM
I'm off to Oran Park this weekend. The promoter is the Festival of Sporting Cars and its one of the Group S Assoc. championship rounds.  I have been reliably informed that there will be 20 Alfa's running this weekend in various classes!!

I will post some pics when I return.

Cheers,
Phil.

Have fun Phil.

Oh BTW I didn't get around to ziptieing up all the wires I installed last night.

And check that oil pressure switch for leaks!

I also have a workaround for the switch if things go pearshaped and the fuel pump wont start.  After all the regs say the switch has to be installed, do they mention that it has to work?

Cheers
Stuart

Thanks for your help last night Stuart, I noticed the wires and just about ripped 'em all out when I jumped in to start it.  I will shove em all under the dash with a liberal application of zip ties.

Best of luck Phil.

Seems it will be years if ever that i join you.  Sadly, the FERGTV is up for sale as i need the funds desperately.

I will just have to live my motorsport dream vicariously thru others.

I have just returned from north of the border and had one of the best race weekends I could have hoped for, good racing, good camaraderie, good (well mostly) weather, and a well run race meeting by the FoSC guys.  They run a great meeting with the emphasis on value for money racing, no panel contact and no trophies.  The big news is FoSC will be running an event at Bathurst next Easter!

There were 22 Alfa's running in this meeting, 8 in Group S, and 2 in Group N, 5 in Marque Sports, 4 in Improved Production and 3 in Regularity.  I was told there were more Alfa's at this meeting than any other Marque, not sure if this is accurate but 22 is an awesome effort!!

We had two Group S races on Saturday and three Mix & Match races on Sunday (one of which was all MG & Alfa's, they called it 'Spaghetti & Chips'!!).  Probably a highlight for me was racing with Lynn Brown in a Group N 105, he set me up a beauty and beat me on pure reacecraft, I then threw out the tow hook and followed him around for the remainder of the race (we finished 4th & 5th), I went and had a chat with him afterwards and it turns out he is a very experienced campaigner having competed in a number of Bathurst's in the 60's & 70's....and a great guy to boot!

In that particular race (mix & match) there was an RX3 & Torana (both Group N) about 10-15 seconds up the road and a Group S Datsun a second or two clear of Lynn and I.  There was also a fast closing mustang behind us.

I will post some fairly average photos soon (ish).
