Title: Spettacolo 2010 - Volunteer Opportunities
Post by: John Hanslow on November 04, 2010, 05:21:45 PM
Just to let you all know planning is in the final stage for this years event.  A lot of good work has been done by the organisers for the 3 main activities:
- 100 Year Historic Walk
- Wash'n Shine and Register Display
- Concorso - may be 4 cars this year

But we need people to help out at the start with ground control (parking) and also to judge a few cars in the Wash'n Shine (not your own car!).

So if you we do ask that you get there early to park your car in the correct spot and then give us a hand.  We need help to park all cars from the peak time of 8.30am to 10 am.  SO give us a half hour or so for the benefit the club.

No time to enter in a Wash'n Shine - no problem, judge someone else's car and get involved.

Finally there will be a complimentary Organisers and Volunteer luncheon after the awards at about 2pm so you also can catch up with fellow Alfisti and club members over a bite to eat.  (Drinks not included).

Note we have people coming from regional chapters and interstate to help out so let's put on a good show to make it light work for all.

0409-961-719.

Cheers

Won't be cancelled, as there is no scope to move the event.

You may need a rain jacket and umbrella, but you would of if the forecast was for sunshine ... it is Melbourne.

Congratulations John, for staging the most successful Spettacolo ever.
What a wonderful showcase of the most superb assembly of Alfa Romeo vehicles spanning almost 100 years. With visitors from 3 States we surely had a magnificent aray of vehicles in Melbourne unlikely to be topped anywhere in Australia. It has been a joy to be part of AROCA vic's 100 year cellebrations throughout this year. 3 Chees!

+1, John i dunno how you managed it all, and your day job. Only thing i can thing of is that you took a few days off.........was a great day, if a little long for those of us who dont normally get up so early on a Sunday.

Wow what a day!!!   ;D

Special thankyou to John, Barry, and of course Phil for organising the 100 year walk!

I had a ball today!! was worth waiting a year for now i have to wait again for the next one...

Was great to take photos of most of the cars, couldn't get everyone's but i did my best to get round, my legs are killing me right now but it was worth it...

Really happy the weather held out for us too!  8)

Another typical AROCA event. Loved it!

The organisation is second to no one, from the moment I drove in and was greeted by Vin Sharp, to seeing Colin Thomas directing me to the appropriate area, and welcomed by Barry Edmunds on the load speaker, very embarrassing. The 100 year walk was another great idea as well as having the same series cars organised into the same areas, as usual.

A great club/family of committed volunteers, well done and THANKS!.

Lastly, Loved the Red Alfasud Wagon, never seen one before, love to put some numbers on it and see what it can do, obviously! ;)

I had a fantastic time too (not as a volunteer though!). Loved all the cars, and meeting up with people, including Phil for directing my 155 to the correct spot in the Walk. My GT stayed in the garage because it was still wet/raining down past Geelong where I travel up from, but hopefully next year is completely dry and sunny!

Thank you to all the organisors for another wonderful event.

Richard :)

Thank you all for your comments.

Yes had a few days off to plan for the day.  But more importantly had a good team who helped out, namely Phil Nash with 100 Year walk, Gary Pearce re the all important Concorso matters and David Wright regarding the Historic Display.

Also ground & gate staff Colin, Tim, Anthony, Erica, Peter just to name a few.

And all the wash'n Shine judges.  Very professional.

Thank to you all.  Most appreciated.

Through having my 166 in the walk, I got to see how much effort was going in by John, Phil and everyone else associated with the event...and thought how cruel it would be if the weather gods intervened...luckily good karma prevailed, the rain never eventuated and everyone had a fantastic day. Thankyou to all the organisers.

I could not believe it.  Cars were still arriving at 2.30 pm.

A 105 white GTC arrived when we were in the middle of the Concorso Presentation.

Look, thanks to the 2010 Event organisers we had including Martin who stepped forward and asssited when needed and got a some important things done for me.  Thank you to the Register Captains who did a lot of running around on the field.  You must be fit Colin !    Thanks to the club photographers too.

Cheers.

A big thank you to Martin Sifridi who did a magnificent Autocad based plan of the site so that we could set out the cars as required. He also organised an Il Globo article as well helping me find lots of cars for the 100 Year Walk.

Martin's lovely wife, Vicki, was also the nurse on duty for us so a BIG thank you Martin & Vicki!
(John, I still rekon the wandering Italian minstrels would have been a great touch, but, there is always next year!)  :)
