Title: Dyno Day June 2nd
Post by: Domenic on May 26, 2007, 05:45:26 PM
Hi

Just wondering if the Dyno Day is still happening at Beninca motors on the 2nd of June?

If so how much is it to run my car and what will the schedule be like? Start time, BBQ????

Thanks
Domenic

Hi Domenic,

I have been attempting to get something on the website, without much luck!

Dyno Day.

We will be having a Dyno day at Beninca's on Saturday 2nd June.  Cost will be $40.00 for a power run with a reading of air/fuel mix and a check for accuracy of both your speedo and tacho.  The BBQ will be fired up, and there will be a snag in bread on offer so there is no need to head down to Bunning's and buy one there!  The address is 581 Canterbury Rd Surrey Hills and we should be kicking off at around 11am.  The plan is to try to group the front wheel drive cars together and the rear wheel drive cars together and finally any 4WD cars (all Brera's and V6 159's welcomed!).  It's a good social day, and bragging rights will stand until the next time we do another Dyno day!  See you there.

Phil / Domenic,

What time will the dyno runs finish? I ask because I'm keen but can't make it before 1:30 or 2.

Cheers, Brad

Hey Brad,

It depends on the turn up, but I would imagine that 1.30 - 2.00 wont be a problem.  If you want, give me a call before you leave and I will let you know how we are going for time.

My number is 0408 573 596.

What a great turnout!  25 cars had a run.  Thanks to all those who made it a good day.

A highlight for me was seeing Mary Lee's AWD V6 159 have a run (even if Victor wouldn't put his BMW on...we tried...hehe)

I have all the data on cd but can't work out which software to download from here

Quotehttp://www.autronic.com/page_files/software.htm

to print out the graphs, any help much appreciated.  Unfortunately, the graphs don't have individuals names or car models anyway.

My 90 got 116hp at@6286rpm if anyone's interested.  A couple of other 2.5's got around the same mark, a TS 75 got 115, a 164 around 117.  I saw an apparently standard 3.0 75 get 144hp, and one with Q cams and maybe some breathing mods get 165hp!!

Suds and 33's all got around 70-75hp  (hee hee),  Mary Lee's 159 got 168hp from memory.  A 156 GTA got 199, an FPV F6 Typhoon looked like it had about 2000hp by the way it was trying to wrench itself off the dyno, but I thought I heard 437, and the lovely Fiat 500 managed an amazing 24hp!

Great day.  The sausages and beer and exhaust smoke was just what all those hungover heads needed.

Anyone who was there, please publish your results, would make for interesting reading.  I'm intrigued that my car made it's hp at such a high rpm when other V6's I saw all made theirs at about 5500rpm if not lower.  And my peak torque was at 2160rpm.  Is this normal?  According to my road test, my car should make peak power at 5600, and peak torque at 4000rpm.  It's only got a different exhaust tip, not a whole system.

Here's the results from my 75 2.5.  Stock except for a K&N panel filter.  It was the white one that ran before the Fiat 500.

Peak power:  117hp @ 5300
Peak torque: 170Nm @ 2200 and again at 4600 (really flat)
And A/F ratio hovered between 11.5 and 12:1 which is probably a bit rich.

Thanks to everyone who organised and helped out, it was a great day.
Cheers, Scott

Hey,
It was a good day and go to see a few different cars

The results for my 75 Twin Spark were

POWER: 119.6hp@5567
TORQUE: 171.4Nm@4457

"It's a good social day, and bragging rights will stand until the next time we do another Dyno day!  See you there."
So i guess i got bragging rights with the highest HP output in a 4 cylinder

As with the apparently standard 75 3.0ltr that made 144hp you speak of Sheldon, that is one of my cars as well and the figures for that were

POWER: 144.8hp@5639
TORQUE: 203.1Nm@4613

As with both cars, they are COMPLETELY STANDARD motor wise.

Thanks

I also enjoyed seeing the variety of cars at this event.  Thanks to the Beninca team for a very efficiently run morning.

My 2001 GTV 3.0 achieved 174hp (130kw) @ 6400rpm and 211Nm @ 5050rpm (remaining above 180Nm from 2000rpm).  This would seem about right given the 199hp of the 156 GTA.  To have my share of bragging rights, I'll have to create a "2 door, FWD" class.

I'm very tempted to put in a BMC CDA intake system and have a rerun.  The UK GTV owners are very positive about this mod, with reports of better power and improved responsiveness. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has been down this route.

The highlight of the day for me was hearing Colin Byrne's 105 singing. It sounded terrific. My car, even with 2 mufflers removed from its system, sounded very discreet by comparison.  Colin, I hope the car is feeling much better now after the little "rest" it had at the end of its run.

Regards,
John

Hi jon
Thanks, the car is feeling much betterr!, i've actually been thinking about cutting out another muffler but am worried about being to loud for PI.  The "rest" was caused by the external tachometer for the dyno drawing alittle bit more current from the ignition system than it was used to and blowing a fuse.
