Title: Historic Sandown 5-7
Post by: alfagtv58 on September 09, 2010, 09:19:52 AM
Historic Sandown is coming up on November 5-7.  Should be a few Alfa's entered, 1 in Group C and at least 6 that I know of in Group S.

We have a traveling party coming down from NSW.  3 of the travelling party have asked me if there is anywhere in Metro Melbourne they could store their race cars (on trailers) for the week before the event.  So I would imagine it would be the Monday before Melb Cup Day to the following Thursday.

Please PM me if you can help out some fellow Alfisti.  Even if it space for just one of them!!

Thanks,
Phil.

Phil,

I should have room. Out on the open though (not under cover).

Thanks hmd, I'll send you an email.  Are you entering too?  If you are, that makes at least 7 alfas in Group S!!

I could be too, but just in front of HMD!!!!!

The hurdles are:  getting PCC, OLT, medical, lecture, lots of $$$, paperwork and entry.

17 Alfa's entered in Group S!
14 in Sc and 3 in Sb

2 Alfa's in Group N

1 Alfa in Group C (the Group A/C guys have a feature race on sunday - 15 laps with a pit stop I am told)

+ a handful more in Regularity

Groups Sb & Sa have 2 races together (1 on Sat & 1 on Sun) and same for Group Sc, then on Sunday afternoon there will be two more group S races...one for under 2 litre and one for over 2 litre.

Should be a great weekend, I cant wait!

Hey Phil, can I follow you around so you can show me the lines?

With the pace you've been getting out of that car lately, not a chance!!

Besides, Sandown doesn't have lines, it's just two big straights with some squigly bits at both ends ;)

Sunday afternoon  Group S under 2 litre race looks like an all Alfa Romeo Challenge race with a couple of ring-ins ( I think), should be interesting to watch.

Neil,

It's been quoted as a 'Spaghetti v Chips' battle  ;)

So watch out for those pesky MGs.

Probably going to try and organise for a few to get together for dinner on Saturday night about 10 mins drive from the track, send me an email if you want details and are interested in coming along.

Choderboy - you're welcome to come, we need someone to send to the bar to buy our drinks.

But wait there is more.I am overstocked with  the commemorative East Coast Challenge T- shirts .

Thanks, icing on the cake for me personally.....however....the best result of the weekend was the amount of Alfa's competing, what a cracking weekend.  Great weather & good, clean racing.

Commiserations to the handful of Alfa steerers who had issues  :(

Neil,

I had 103 issues, as measured by CAMS   ;)

Second funniest thing for the weekend was me, Marcus and Neil coming to the dummy grid late for last race, I had to put the driving gloves on in the car on the warm up lap (hopefully CAMS officials not reading this).

Funniest thing was seeing Neil speeding through the field on the restart warm up lap.

That restart form up lap was my fault  :o

The official at the grid directed me to the right hand side to grid up in P2 (should have been in 3), as Danny Gatto should have been out of P2.  So just to get me in P3 we had to go around again.

Sorry 'bout that  :-[

Bloody funny that you tried to take a few Neil, you must have thought you had found 50 horsepower all of a sudden!!

Yep, had me worried and wondering, couldn't see anything from where I was, didn't know about the restart and saw something started blasting past me, so I went off and passed a few and thought this isn't right, going to be in trouble, and got around and wasn't really in focus for the rest.

Pretty funny not hearing the call up and showing absolutely unprepared, just got helmet and belt on in time but no camera.

Anyway, you live and learn and provide a bit of comedy along the way.
