In one word, SpaItalia was BIG! This two day event really was an Italian extravaganza!
Saturday was wet and drizzly. We spent Saturday morning there and then went into Spa for a look around. Vin, Gary & Bruno found the old spa circuit (now a public road) and spent the afternoon driving that.
In the evening there was a SpaItalia dinner at the track. Very interesting...not like an AROCA dinner... a fashion show and a live singer. Pity we didn't understand all the songs. And also these guys start their evening meal after 9.00pm. Becomes a tiring day if you're not used to it.
Sunday was a better day weather wise. We got our briefing for the Spa-Milan tour, being advised that on the Monday we've got 500kms to travel to get to Mulhouse, France then to have dinner at the Schlumpf Car Museum. There are 26 cars participating.
Each car will be given route notes apparently on scenic roads, and pre and sweep cars so we don't get lost!
Back at SpaItalia, I've never seen so many Lambo's, Ferrari's, FIATS's and of course Alfa's in the one location before. And from different eras.
I hadn't heard whether they broke the record or not, but they wanted to fill the 6.3km (?) Spa Circuit with Alfas. They may have succeeded!
In hindsight, if we could've have had access to helmets, then numbers for the MiTos would've have been seriously considered! But we did get a parade lap of the circuit (as part of the record breaking attempt), so we did get a small taste of the circuit.
Tomorrow we start on our actual rally to Milano!
