Hi Neil,
The JA No Bull Racing Team will be there again this year, how soon before we can book our spot?
And are Teams who participated last year given preference this year, or is it "first in best dressed"?
Hi there Trevor and all those interested in the AROCA-BABYCO 6 hr at Winton,
For your information and to relieve you of your anxiety, the 6hr organizing team is working to get the event going, as a meeting has now being called.
I have started the paperwork and organizing, so SR&EF should be available in April with an information night in July.
I expect and most likely that 2006 teams will be given priority of entry meaning 27 places are probably filled already. 2007 Event is looking to be an absolute full field with a maximum of 35-38 teams, so really not that many spare places.
Of course, I am calling for volunteers and helpers as usual, so if you helped last year, you will be definitely be called upon to assist once again.
Let say this, AROCA is working hard to get the show running again.
So watch this space and I will endeavour to post and notify everyone via this forum and email with as much information that develops or come to hand.
Regards
Neil Choi

Hi Adam, good to hear you are on board! The comp sec is where to send the cheque (assuming your question was not rhetorical!), you will find the details on the bottom of the entry form.
Thanks Phil, I didn't read the above posts and have now found the entry form and regs so I am in the process of filling all them out and I will send them off to Neil. I am so looking forward to this event, and all the members in my team are first timers as well (but all quick cars) but it should be a whole lot of fun.
We will see Trev, I hope I am starting next to you! ;D ; :-\

When I spoke to Neil on Sunday it was still on.
Dear all,
I am writing to get in touch with you to let you know of the progress of the event on 27/28 October at Winton.
By all accounts without much promoting, the event is looking to be a full field. At this stage we have over two third of the maximum field filled and more interest and enquiries to fill a team.
As I have given you warnings since April (release of entry forms), if you are planning on entering and have not done so, please do so now as I can not hold onto your priority entry or guarantee your team's place any more due to the numerous enquiries I am getting, with only two months out from event date. As you know now, cash speaks louder than words, so please send me your team's entry now if you haven't done so already. I would hate to disappoint you once the field is full. I am looking out for all past entrants.
We are working hard at making this year's bigger and better and continuing the tradition in the usual AROCA way.
Our usual Clerks of Course are Alister Grigg and David Crump, joining the team will be Doug Gould, these three well experienced officials have kindly donated their time to make this event happen and run smoothly.
Changes to the event which we think you all would appreciate are:
Drinks for all on Saturday after track closes at 5pm
Drinks for all on Sunday after the close of event
Presentation of Winners, place getters and best presented team at 5:30pm on Sunday after the close of event
Perhaps the announcement of the date of 2008 AROCA 6 hr Relay at Winton
As usual the event is proudly sponsored by BABYCO and Geoff Cox
And proudly supported by at least 14 businesses including
Nesci Transport
Ken Tame Assoc (Insurance)
Oceanic
Monza Motors
Meridian Motorsports
Pace Engineering
Maranello Motors
Lance Dixon
Zagame
Italian Motor Company
Angoves Wines
Stuckey Tyres
Mauceri Motors
Rankins Panels
Alfa Romeo Australia is another proud supporter of AROCA and the event.
We would like thank them all for their continued enthusiastic support.
I look forward to your entry and reply. Please watch out on our club website www.alfaclubvic.org.au for news and development if I have not emailed you.

Hi there all
A 6 hr committee meeting is called for Wednesday 22 August at the Town Hall Hotel, 137 Bank Street, South Melbourne.
This is a pretty important meeting as the event is only two months out and all organizations must be set by this meeting.
All those interested in giving a hand at doing something to help run the show are most welcome to attend the meeting.
I will reconfirm once the venue is confirmed as being booked.
Cheers
Neil
Just a note to all those interested.
If you are still contemplating entering the event, you best to do so now as I am getting lots of interest and with over half the team places filled, I cannot guarantee a place for you if you delay any longer.
It is now open to anyone who sends in their entry form with payment, as we know, cash speaks louder than words.
So come on and send in your entry, I would hate to disappoint your team.

Neil

Hey Neil,
has anything been sent/emailed out yet. We have had no notification that our entry has been received -sorry to be a pain. :)
Still waiting for an answer - anyone? ???
Hey Big Trev, I know we are still accepting entries at this stage, so if your entry is in, then your are in!! I will get in touch with Neil and ask him to confirm.
Thanks Phil, he is a hard man to get on the phone
Hello Trevor and all those concerned of their entry,
Sorry for lack of response, surfing on the web is a bit of a luxury for me in recent times due to a heavy workload.
All entries received have been accepted as usual, so no worries there.
At the moment, over 32 odd teams are entered and the event will be a smash hit as like last year.
Organizational-wise, I think all is under control, most of the work will be done in the coming weeks.
Likely, I have obtained a leave-pass for the event weekend, so I think it will be okay for me.
I will post more information and manager's kit soon.
Cheers
Neil
Thanks for the response Neil and also for the PM. See you on the weekend.

I just noticed the same thing Evan - bugger, we can only hope it doesn't rain until Monday. ::)
Wouldn't matter if it snowed- ITS FINALLY ON!!!!
Yeah, good call Brett, we are fortunate enough to have some treaded tyres as well.
Good luck and safe racing to all our AROC team members. I'm very envious.....see you next year.
Latest forecast showers moing in from the west late Sunday. Saturday 29 Sunday 25. Benalla hotter.
Just got back, and what a fantastic event, and a great weekend had by all. No incidents on the track, I don't think the safety car was deployed once during the event.
It started raining about an hour and a half before the start, but stopped about 30 minutes before. track was wet for the start, but a dry line appeared within 30 minutes. I did the last stint for our team and got a few drops on my screen with about 10 minutes to go, but luckily nothing eventuated. About 10 minutes after the finish it absolutely bucketed down!! We were very lucky.
To all involved with the organisation, a hearty cheers.
What a fantastic weekend.
Wet track at the start.
Unfortunately it meant that everyone who started for their team mucked up their regularity factor because the times were slow while the track was still wet, then got gradually much faster.
Wow - what a great event. This was my second time and it just gets better. Team Trofeo sends a big thankyou to all the organisers and volunteers.
Huge congratulations also to Team Maschi di Alfa for a well deserved win.
Natsoft raw data is available here: http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?28/10/2007.WIN.S1.I
Absolutely stoked ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Like Evan said, a great event....I just love the team aspect, something you normally dont get a lot of in our chosen sport.
I must say, a big thank you to our club as a whole who had the 'stones' to take on this event and run it. And to Neil Choi who sacrificed a fair bit this year in finding time to prepare.
It is quite rewarding to run something this big and see so many having a good time.
Well done AROCA and in particular Neil Choi, he is a rock.
Well done to to the organising committee, big job, great effort, also a great big thanks to all the volunteers, they were great.
By my reckoning we came in 7th, so next year, a top 3 for us.
Thanks guys and well done.
what a great event
congratulations to the alfa club once again ,
our humble team of celicas and a corrolla had a fantastic time ,and a special thanks to neil choi
and the hard working officials , without there help, one of our first timers would not have been able to compete, also i must mention the scrutineers they did a marvelous hard job, also their help made it possible for our member to run
thanks again

And i even got event updates despite being over in the Wild West.
Congrats Neil and the committee. Obviously another well managed event with i am sure a few nervous people around an hour before and for the first 30 mins due to the weather.
Well done to all teams. Everyone obviously looked after themselves and their fellow competitors especially whilst the track was wet.
Glad my old team and my old car did well. Very jealous, must consider a fly in/out drive for 08.
On behalf of the MX5 club I would like to thank the Alfa club for running an amazing day. A special well done to Neil for bringing it all together. We all had a great weekend and we are already planning our strategies for next year.

I'll second Sav on that. It was a brilliant weekend of driving. The specially washed track on Sunday has never been better. 8)
We had six hours of running without a halt. I think there were only 2 tows all day and they were in around the pit lane. For all the time I was on the track the driving was impeccable. That was amazing with 31 cars of all sorts on the track at once. A real credit to driver and car preparation all round.
Thanks to the Alfa club for managing it so well and thanks to the MX5 club for all the support we got in fielding 3 teams.
Phil

Some highlights:
Phil Baskett in 3/4 length jeans (cute legs). Teruo in rolled up sleeves under the Alfa Club officials vest (not cute, just gaudy). Vin & Anthony Sharp flattening the battery of the pace car (listening to ABBA CD's ??). Neil Provis-Vincent for turning up after rolling the Nissan in a ball at Philip Is. Mary Lee for breaking the car to prevent Victor setting faster timers (how many finishes from how many starts this year?). Ian James for just bringing the Guilia Super. Maree Sharp for the superb catering. The Carra girls for running up and down the control tower stairs bring it all up to us. The Cobra that made the control tower windows shake every time it took off out of pit lane. The Cobra that damn near spun in pit lane. The baby poo coloured corolla (a deeper shade of Neilsen yellow) who had a wheel in the air on about half the corners. All the guys that missed the Haines special after it spun at the water tower. The sheep that followed the saftey car into Pit lane instead of gridding up (I'm surprised that the howls from the tower weren't heard in pit lane). The guy in the Nissan March - slowest on the track - driving the life out of it - and not getting in anyones way. The 3 guys who expired between the start / finish line and the old pit lane exit & parked sensibly that allowed hot recovery. David Gwynn for spending all weekend standing on the Start / Finish Gantry and especially for not being blown over the edge when he held out signs during the gusts on Sunday.
I think that the guys that deserve the greatest thanks are the ones who spent all weekend fixed in one spot without relief. The flag officials, David Gwynn at Start / Finish, Colin Thomas and Mick Pannell in pit lane. 2 days doing the same thing in the same spot without the ability to move around & talk to people is a big sacrifice. Vin & Anthony are nearly in the same boat, but they got to listen to the CD's that flattened the battery! I'm sure there are others I've missed. But the point is that there are a small number of people who are regularly at events helping in jobs that are under the radar. When you notice one of these people quietly working away, please step up and thank them.
This was my first 6 hour and I never understood the mistique of the 6 hour. Now I do.
Doug Gould
I forgot to add that a highlight for me was watching the racesafe guys and Batman (Bruce & Wayne) who handled the radios & comms to the flag points and Ian & Jenny from Timetronics. It was a glimpse at how professional races are run. The 6-hour is in a completely different league in terms of complexity than a club sprint. There is a lot we can learn from the approach of these guys for our normal sprints and we've still got headroom to make the 6 hour better.
But collectively these guys have one of those jobs where the better they perform, the less they are noticed.
I was largely a passenger for the 6-hour. Ross Flood took the brunt and predominantly dealt with the dozen or so guys we black flagged with greater diplomacy than I posess.
Doug Gould
As a competitor and a team mate of one of Ross's call ups, Ross handled everything in a friendly professional way - well done Ross, no easy task being a C of C. I know - LOL
A huge thank you to all that made this event possible, I, and the rest of the 2 BMW teams had a great time, the good results were a bonus (it was every member of team BM's first ever regularity, or anything similar) hope to see everyone there again next year ;D
