Title: Salespeed Dropping Into Neutral
Post by: charlottek on August 20, 2009, 09:50:23 AM
So I am having BIG problems with my Alfa Romeo 2002 147 Salespeed! I will be driving along and then I stop at traffic lights or traffic and it drops into neutral and wont go back into gear. I turn the car off and then pump the gas peddle and turn it make on and usually its starts and goes into gear if not I do the same thing a couple of times and it eventually goes into gear. It does this both in city model and manual. I have read a heap of posts and forums from both Australia and Overseas and I cannot see a reason for this. I dont want to just take it to a mechanics as i have no clue the problem and i dont want them to fix a bunch of things and then it still do this.

Any ideas??

Start with the simple items first, have you checked the oil level in the salespeed reservior. Its mounted on top of the left hand wheel arch in the engine bay, and you must only use the reconmended oil which can be purchased from one of our sponsors.
I need to fill my once a year, and I know I am looking at a system replacement in the long term, however oil is cheaper short term alternative

The forum has had a few posts about issues with Selepeed gearbox.

As some people have been quotes for repairs or replacement that may cost several thousand dollars,  how about having a look on our list of Alfa Specialists on the sponsors page.
