Title: 156 mystery items
Post by: jla987 on June 11, 2022, 10:53:05 AM
Hi all,

Giving my 156 a once-over before starting after leaving it sitting for 6 months with a flat battery. I have noticed a couple of items are perishing and will need to be replaced. Only problem is I dont know what they are to be able to search for any replacements. Can anybody help identify the yellow electrical fitting & black hose circled in the image?

Thanks in advance

The yellow item is the connector to your front wheel ABS Sensor Lead. You have one on both sides, they are a common issue.

The black hose is your engine bay Fuel Line. Again, a common problem on older cars.

Thanks Bazz for confirming.

Regarding the fuel line. The perishing rubber hose appears to be just a protective layer on top of the harder plastic fuel line underneath which is in good condition. Is there a need to replace it if the rubber outer is only serving a protective function?

If there is fuel weeping to the surface of the rubber cover then yes.

Just replace with high quality fuel hose & hose clamps.
