Title: Mobile Roof liner fitter in Dandenong area
Post by: ALFAAA on February 09, 2022, 01:53:53 PM
Hi ,
Does anyone know a Mobile Roof lining/head trim fitter in Dandenong area.
I have the new lining and just want it fitted to my Alfetta GTV.
My car is not mobile at the moment.  :-\

Has anyone on this forum changed the roof lining them selves on an Alfetta Gtv,
I have noticed that there is a glued plate on the front of the lining. :-\

Hi sportiva,
My GTV has no widows fitted as I am now starting to put it together after the restoration I have done on it.
There is no sun roof .
There is a plate on the front of the roof lining where the sun visors are mounted.Refer the photo.
I will fit the new roof lining myself but I cannot believe how hard its to find a mobile roof lining repairer, when you mention its an Alfa Romeo they state they don't do Alfa's.

Hi All,
Removed the old roof lining today,
Not hard to do. :)
Slightly bent down the steel tags to remove the rods.
Very happy as I found no rust under the roof skin it very clean like new. Refer photos.
There is a black plate at the front between the 2 roof lining skins. I will glue this plate into position where the sun visors go before fitting the new roof lining.
I also have attached a photo of the black plate.

Good luck with fitting the new one. I've done the liner on my 75 (twice!) but that uses a different system. I've removed a GTV liner but never installed one. My brother redid the liner on his 82 911 which looks similar to a GTV liner and I recall he used many, many bulldog clips to hold the liner in place while it glued. Might be worth stocking up on a few.

Also, when I replaced the liner on my 75 I covered the roof with dynamat and then dynaliner. It made a big difference to the heat load through the roof as well as noise levels. Highly recommend doing it.

Also did the black vinyl on the centre and front pillars.

Mr Fiat roof lining kit was excellent , the roof lining was made in Italy.  :)

Hey great job!

Did you do it yourself? it came out really good. I imagine it would be quite tedious to do.

Cheers,

Paul.

Hi GTV-074.
Yes I did do it myself .

The secret is you need to measure centre of the new lining and centre of the car roof,

Install the 3 rods and then clip the rods on the car locating teeth with the centre lines lining up.

Don't glue the ends yet but pull the ends stretching the vinyl and used the bull dog clips to hold it firm on the car , you will need a hair dryer to remove the creases.
Once the whole roof is nicely stretched I glued a section at a time.
