Title: Busso V6 in a 4C - possible?
Post by: Alfa-Alfa-Aus on January 28, 2021, 01:15:14 PM
Hi All,

Hope you're all well.

I'm considering buying a standard 4C as a donor car and seeing if I can fit a Busso V6 inside it.

Am I mad? Or do you think it's possible?

It's not a pipe-dream, I'm committed to doing it and paying for it to get done right - if it's possible.

I fear there won't be enough room and it would be too heavy - but I'm not super technically minded.

Any ideas?!

Imagine those looks, with that engine  :-*

Might be impossible to register for the road.

A Busso V6 engine transplant is possible, but would require an Engineers certificate for it to be road registered and a pile of money to complete. Have researched the net and have not found any Busso V/6 transplants but a 3L V8 exists and used for hill climb events. Refer to following Youtube link.

                                                               or
For a better less costly option (power to weight ratio) is to carry out some engine mods to boost horsepower to around 450HP refer to the following Youtube video.

Unless you're gonna shoehorn a 3.2 V6 into it, all standard Busso put out way less power & torque than the standard motor in the 4C.

I agree with Bonno, much better idea to pony up the 1.75 already in the car, it'll weigh no more, and it wont screw up the handling.

I also doubt if it would actually physically fit in the 4C either.
