I had a 1.9JTD 156 Sportwagon in the UK which I brought to Australia.  The only difference between it and the  Aust. version was the lack of Australian spec (ADR) rear seat child support restraints.  It had ISOfix, but needed these for import approval, so I swapped the seats with local ones.

Otherwise the vehicle was identical to Aust spec cars (1.9JTD notwithstanding).

I imagine the Japanese version will similarly be not an issue

The radio may cover a slightly different bandwidth.

I have a Japan-delivered 75 T/spark, & so far a mechanical/electrical goes, it all seems same as local cars....If that's of any help.
I think seat belts had to be changed for local rego by the importer at the time.
