Title: Spider identification
Post by: Rustybits on October 04, 2020, 07:52:21 PM
Hi all
Looking for information on a recent purchase (basket case)
I believe I have a 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 Veloce.
Looks like it was originally a LHD vehicle and was converted to RHD sometime ago.

My car doesn't have an identification plate. Looks like it may have been removed when vehicle repainted sometime ago.
I would like to know year and month of manufacture, I have seen a business in the US who produce a reproduction US I/D plate. So need info for this.

My body number AR2470545
Engine number AR0051271038
So if you have a Spider with a body number close to mine I would like to know your build date.
Also has anybody every sourced a replacement ID plate?

Hi ,
I have a matching numbers Alfa Spider 2000 veloce, certified by Automobilismo Storico Centro Documentazione   . Build date 12 sept 1973 and Aust Compliance plate 1/74.
its compliance plate vin # is 247057x and engine # AR0051277xxx. therefore looks like your car is probably pre 12 sept 73 build. there should be enough there to guide you.
