Hope everyone is safe and well in lockdown. Im sure appreciating having something to tinker with.
I've just rebuilt most of the brake components on my 73 berlina 2000, and fitted both master cylinders back onto the car. What should this car have covering the master cylinders? I see that classic alfa sell a metal cover for the brake master cylinder. Was this a factory item?, and if so, are there issues with them? My car has neither and i'm wondering if they were lost or purposefully removed.

Probably some lazy service station mechanic that couldn't give a ratz putting them back. The repro MC cover from CA does not have a couple of tabs to screw onto the chassis rail. Better than nothing though.
I dont think a repro CMC cover is available yet.
Some mechanics and owners jack up the car on these covers and damage them.
Some just dont put them back on.
They can be panel beated with a bit of time.
I have many clutch and brake covers here waiting to be sandblasted, repaired and painted.
Recently was asked to fit a new reproduction cover from the UK..
Had to be modified to fit and repainted.
Was made from thinner steel.
