Title: Pre-purchase inspection
Post by: Scenario on June 06, 2020, 08:33:02 PM
Hello from a new member.

I am looking for a pre-purchase inspection on a 2008 159.

I see Alfamen in Footscray is closed right now - does anyone know when they are opening?

Many thanks

Mark

Don't hold your breath mate.  Alfa Men is long-term hiatus if not closed forever.  Pre-dates corona.  I wish they were still operating too.

Hi Mark,

A few people have commented on the Alfamen closure.  I can recommend Maranello PurSang Mottos in Brunswick who are a well regarded Club supporter and Alfa Romeo Specialist.

Alternatively there also are    Antonio's Auto Service, Thomastown & Northern Alfa, Thomastown.

And if you're located more to the east, Mauceri Motors in Clayton are also good club supporters. Just had my 159 3.2 Q4 there for servicing & a dealing with a few maintenance items, my first time there, and a very good experience.

Is this pretty certain that they may not re-open?

Figuring I must have learnt this from Matty's answerphone.  Gist of this was there was no fixed duration for the shutdown and that they might not recommence operations.

They're going through a legal battle as far as I know. They've been sued from a customer over their 'honest work' and its not looking good for them.
Lucky I've figured out Matt back in 2016, and can't believe some of you guys fell so much on he's sweet talk.

How did you figure that out?

Even if one car had an issue, some goodwill to fix the problem would always be less than the legal fees and closing down a business.

Oh well, time to have a look around for someone else this year.
