Just introducing myself in this part of the forum having recently attained an Alfa 75. Its my 2nd one, i had one and sold it years ago when the kids came along.
Long term Alfista and member of AROCA Vic since about 1981 (heaps of 105's and a few Alfetta's over the years).
Anyway, currently have a 74' GTV 2000, a 68' 1750 S1 Berlina and a rusty, rusty Giulia and now the 75.
Regretted selling the 75 years ago and it was one of the best drivers cars i've ever driven so it left a hole in my automobile makeup that needed to be filled again one day.....
Got this one a few months ago, then the world stopped! Plans are to tidy it up mechanically as its a little tired (bushes, shocks etc.) and look to make
some mods to make it drive, stop, handle a little better. Body and paint are good for a 30+ year old car.

Hi Paul welcome back to the world of 75s! We have one in the family, it used to belong to me, now it belongs to my son. Only yesterday he was showing me old video of European 75 rally cars in action in the day, turbo 4s and V6s up against E30s and the like – I think he loves the 75 and cars of that era even more than I do! His dream car is not a 4C (as much as he likes them), rather a Turbo Evoluzione IMSA! Heartwarming to know that there is the passion for the 116 and 160 series Alfas amongst the Millennials.
Anyway, I hope you get a lot of joy from the Silver Streak!

I am so envious. She looks fantastic. The 75 is my favourite "everyday" Alfa (ie not a Monty SZ etc), and I WILL own one eventually. I just missed out on a 3.0L a few years ago so bought my GTV instead. But they are pretty rare here in WA.
I had one in this colour. Sold it to fund a 156. Miss it terribly, much more than I miss the 156 (also since departed)
Got the car out for our AROCA Vic 'Spettacolo' Day recently.
Had fitted a set of repo Ronals with some sticky rubber, seems ok so far!

fantastic. per my post above I missed mine terribly, to the point where I bought another one (in the same colour) again. So now we both have Bianco Argento twin spark's in melbourne.
I have to wonder if there is a chance that the one you bought is my old car? who knows.
The one I have came out of adelaide originally.

Good work Paul keeping another one alive and heading in the right direction. Some time ago my biggest frustration was getting pipped on the buy of a 3 litre by a shonky car salesman. Still sour on it when I think about it. Anyhow, I have moved on and have had had others since. Currently I am building a racing version.
Couple of interesting things I have learned along the way is that the 3 litre has a tall diff. ratio and no LSD but the 2.5litre 3 speed automatic does have an LSD. The logic of that escapes me. Alfa did the same with the 105 series where the Berlina 2 Litre automatic had an LSD but the coupes didn't.
Fortunately your twin spark comes with all the right combo.

Er, some factual correction needed:
The 3.0 litre does have an LSD, but yes, a taller diff ratio (there are a couple of different tall ratios). I can't comment on the 2.5 auto. The 2.5 75 manual no LSD. 2litre T/spark 75 does have LSD.
While you are correct about 2litre 105 autos having an LSD (and tall diff), but ALL 2litre 105s have the LSD centre. And 2litre axles are unique larger size to fit the LSD.
Actually. an LSD option was available for the smaller 105s as well, but only on special request and LOT of money. There is still the odd one around that surfaces every now and then. I have one myself and another club member has one in a GTC as ordered from new.

You are correct Vin. Just checked my fact sheet for the 75 series. When I was doing a 3 litre conversion, I was supplied an open diff transaxle, I was going on that assumption. It got sent back as I found the 1st gear too tall along with diff ratio. Good for fuel economy if that is the objective. Eventually the engine got married to a transaxle out of a twin spark for a great compromise.
Based upon Vin's advice and the many variables out there, when buying a used vehicle it would pay to never assume but be sure it is what you think it is due to conversions and upgrades that take place all the time.

A tall ratio & long first gear with non LSD is probably from a first series 2.5 Alfa 90.

All transaxle autos had a LSD... Even the rare auto 2.0 Alfettas did. I pulled the center out of one for my spares a couple of years ago. It is the same unit as in a 105 2.0 rear axle.
Back to 75's. I say the Twin Spark 75s are the Giulia sedan of the transaxle cars. I have had 3 x T-S 75s and a 2.5 litre car. The T-S cars are soooo sweet!
