Title: Ti Brakes
Post by: Stu159 on July 26, 2019, 07:58:25 AM
hi everyone,

Have just found out at my annual service that my 159 needs new brake discs. In the process I'd like to upgrade the set up to the Ti ones. I believe the ones on the Giuletta QV are the same size also and can be converted to fit the 159. Can anyone tell me if the set up on the other 159 models are all the same? For example are the discs on the 2.2 Ti models the same as the 3.2 Ti models? I'm sure somebody must have done it before, so if anyone would like to highlight other potential issues to be aware of, that would be great too. My car is a 3.2, 2006 make.

Thankyou
Stuart

If you want Ti brakes for your 159 3.2 V6 go buy yourself a can of red brake caliper paint and some white "Alfa Romeo" brake caliper stickers..............then take the wheels off and paint the calipers red. Job done

well that's one answer I suppose Dom, but it's a only a superficial fix  :)
I actually want it to have better brakes and the Ti ones are that. It already looks good enough in black......sure, red toe nails won't hurt, but she won't look any better in the dark anyway if I go that route and she'll still feel the same also

Ok, put it this way, what makes you think the Ti has better brakes than what is fitted currently to your 3.2 V6 ?  ;)

To my knowledge the Ti and the 3.2 basically have the same brakes - 330mm Rotors & Brembo Calipers.

Seem to recall 305mm for all non Ti apart from the V6 and 330mm for the 3.2V6 and any Ti?
For a 13 Yo car probably time for a new master cylinder and full rebuild of the calipers - paint them red at the same time!
Braided brake lines are also worth considering.

I see, I've done some further research and discovered that the Ti brake upgrade was only on the models that weren't V6, because, as you've all noted, the only difference is the colour when it comes to my model, it has the same brakes, regardless of the year or the lack of "T"

It's always good to chat anyway  8)

thanks to all
