Title: removing the gearbox from the 1998 t spark
Post by: cc on July 18, 2019, 12:45:23 AM
With the engine out, the gearbox was separated from the engine to install a clutch kit.
There was a heavy black tacky deposit in the bell housing and on the side of the engine enclosed by the bell housing. The clutch plate had only a mm or two of wear left on it before the rivets were  coming into play.. The thrust bearing was noisy too. With less than 100,000km on the car its probably original. The flywheel is away being machined with 10-30 thousand/inch to come off the surface.
The gearbox oil was a dark honey colour but also had a flow of dark grey oil within it as it drained.. A fine grey black deposit was on the drain plug magnet.Having fun!

An ideal time to replace the balance shaft bore plugs.
