Title: 159 Wheels
Post by: Bobm on April 27, 2019, 09:28:38 PM
Is anyone able to enlighten me on the issues with fitting Ti 19inch wheels to standard 2.4Jtd.

I was under the assumption that you could keep the overall wheel diameter if you increase rim size by reducing Tyre profile.

I placed 225/50/17 (standard) alongside 235/45/19 (Ti) and the Ti wheel is about 1inch taller.

Owners manual has 17" with 18" as option on std car, Ti manual only shows 19"

What would be speedo, legal/insurance issues by fitting the Ti wheels to the standard car.

Thanks.

When you did the comparison, were both wheels off the car, or one on car (with weight on it) and the other placed along side?

Maths says the 159 wheel is 0.19" bigger.  Fractionally more again when you inevitably fit a 245 tyre in due course.

Forgetting all that -- fitting Ti wheels does not make something else into a Ti.  Skirts, lower suspension, etc.  Just saying... ;D  Unless you have access to a cheap set of the Ti wheels why not go for something aesthetically better and more practical?  19" wheels with low profile tyres are not easy to live with.
