Title: GTV6 not starting
Post by: Calabrese_Uno on February 13, 2019, 09:44:53 PM
Hi,

On the weekend took my GTV6 for a spin, everything working fine as normal.

Left it for half an hour and went back and it won't start....

Battery is fine, radio won't switch on, clock not working.... windows and lights working.

Any basic checks I can do before I seek help?

Thanks.

Not starting as in it is not cranking over at all, no power to the starter? Or not starting as in it cranks over but does not fire?

No power at all could be numerous things: a loose ground wire, a bad relay, blown fuses etc.
Cranking but not firing: check to see if there is any petrol on the plugs after cranking it for a few secs, check if there is spark etc.

Sounds awfully like an ignition switch fault.  Do you get "reds" with ignition on, and does the tacho show movement when you crank?

agree with what sportiva mentioned, also make sure that the fuel pump is working, listen to the rear driver side when you which on the ignition to see if you hear the pump whirl. if no sound is coming from the pump you have a problem.

Okay, checked the spark plugs, all good.

Fuse no #5 was out, replaced it and started first go!

Radio and clock are also working again.

Thanks for the help.
