Title: Stelvio?
Post by: alfagtv100 (Biggus) on November 06, 2018, 09:41:57 PM
Hi all,
I know I have a habit of posting non-technical stuff in the tech sections of the form, but it is very convenient to click on the series links to access information and opinion on the different Alfa Romeo models.

Anyway, all the reviews of the Stelvio speak of its sportscar-like qualities.  Especially the handling.

I have seen exactly two on Melbourne roads.  They look great for an SUV and if the driving experience and quality are similar to that of the Giulia, I wonder why they are so rare.

Are there any Stelvio owners in our community?  It would be great to hear their ownership impressions.

With the 4C, Giulia and Stelvio, Alfa Romeo is finally producing cars that live up to the brand.  Are we enthusiasts buying them?

Cheers, Marco.

Personally, I just hate SUVs. I mean I know they are practical etc but I cant see myself every driving one over a similar sedan. Although I am sure I've seen more than 2 in Melbourne. Haven't seen a QV though.

I believe the Stelvio is a great drive and it stacks up well in many comparable areas too.
However it is competing in the biggest segment of our Australian car market (SUV 43% ) and have you seen the array of Makes and models available? Alfa Romeo are less that 2% of the market so I guess seeing a couple around Melbourne at this early stage is about right. :)

On a positive note, I read yesterday that the 2018 Australian sales figures show Alfa Romeo was the only part of FCA to record increased sales volumes in the year , largely on the back of the Stelvio.

The report in yesterday's paper said: "The FCA stable continues to struggle, with Chrysler (-3.1 per cent), Jeep (-11.4) and Fiat (-42.3) all dipping, however Alfa Romeo was up 21 per cent thanks to the addition of the Stelvio SUV."

There's quite a few around here, I'd see them most days and probably more Stelvio than Giulia now. The local Alfa dealer until recently had a row of them on the front of their lot.
