Title: Fuel component failure - What is it?
Post by: gtv6sv on November 05, 2018, 12:18:13 PM
Hey Alfisti,

Yesterday my GTV6 decided to not start, took out all the spark plugs, gave them a clean, still nothing.

I went to go check my airbox and I see fuel all over the filter.

Pulled off the intake hose and fuel was pouring everywhere!
When I cranked the car, fuel was squirting out of the throttle body.

I pulled off the hose which goes on top of the blue component pictured, blocked it, and the car started!

Put a bolt in that hose so I could get myself home.

My question is, what is this blue component and what does it do exactly? Car seems to run fine without although I have not driven since I got it back home?

Thank you in advance.

Stefan.

Could it be a cold start supplementary injector? It's a K-Jet fuelled motor, right?

Fairly sure it is a cold start injector. Is only is use when the engine temp is below a certain point so you should be fine on a warm day but will struggle to start and run the car on a cold day. Sounds like it is toast. It should be replaced rather than just blocked. Never had to replace one but surely not that expensive?

It should be an L-jet motor.

I'd never realised they ran a supplementary injector on L-Jet; I thought the ECU took enrichment on board with longer injection times.

sportiva knows these thing s in side out he lives and breaths it
alot of people dont know about the 7th injector and due to the nature of it
its the one that clogs the most due to lack of use so they all leak in time
service the injector $50

Thank you very much guys!

Highly appreciate the feedback!

As per Sportiva's advice, I'll get it cleaned out, hopefully that makes work again!
