Title: plates [UAR916] MAYBE FS????
Post by: ugame on August 20, 2018, 11:17:50 AM
So my son has now taken ownership of my GTV and everything is transferred over.

However he's really not fussed about keeping [UAR916] despite me explaining what they mean. (kids these days)

We transferred them into his name anyway of course, but......

Would anyone be interested in buying the plates?
What would they even go for these days?

Thoughts?

These are WA plates of course, hence why in the WA section.

Any luck with the plates?

I've been trying to work out whether I can swap the plates on my two Alfas around. My '81 GTV has completely anonymous rego while my '99 156 has standard plates with the tag ALF-081.

Would really like to get them on the GTV, but not sure if its possible to swap standard plates around.

Na plates is not a priority, but if someone wants them, I'll let my boy know. He just didn't like having to pay for transferring them lol, but it's done now so I'm sure he'll just leave it as is, unless someone "really" wants them. ($$$)

Swapping your plates should be easy. Just pop into DoT with BOTH sets of plates in hand, and your rego papers from both cars, and tell them you want to swap them over.

There's a slight fee for the privilege because you know... a public servant has to look at a screen for 30 seconds.

Also dont forget to tell your insurance you've swapped them over ASAP!

I say it should be easy with standard plates, on the merit that ever time I'm swapping "optional plates" I'm swapping them WITH existing standard plates that I already own.

Cheers - I was worried they might take the opportunity to demand an inspection. Records indicate the GTV last underwent a full inspection by the DoT in 1989!

Na they dont. Both cars are registered so it's just a plate swap, and you "own" both plates. Easy peasy :) (I'm assuming....only hurdle I can think is if they DO care if neither plate is an "optional one"......maybe ring them before popping in and joining the 1hr long line :D )

Another tip though.....all you get until your rego is next due, is a little receipt to say that you've swapped the plates. One for each car. Staple this to your paperwork for your records.
