Title: Grille Trim - Removal
Post by: Alfetta77 on July 02, 2018, 09:34:12 PM
Further to my post http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/forum/index.php?topic=18356.0 I have removed the fasteners (and purchased some new ones, thanks for the leads everyone). Problem is - I can't figure out how to remove the chrome trims! The posts that the fasteners attach to seem to foul on the grille when I try to take them off. I considered grinding off 1mm or so off the top of each of the posts, but don't really want to do this unless I have to. Welcome any advice from anyone who has tackled this before.

Are they crimped on in manufacture?

Sorry for the late reply, as site down for the past 12 hours. Anyway should be able to pry off using flat screwdriver under the  star washer.
Cheers

Thanks guys, have managed to get all the star washers off, and the chrome trims nearly off. Bit terrifying working on the brittle 40-year old plastic grilles...but shiny trims instead of pitted, flaking chrome will be my reward :)

Finally got the chrome trims off, ready for plating - thanks everyone!
