Title: Expression Of Interest - Timekeeping
Post by: Colin Edwards on February 20, 2018, 08:17:04 AM
AROCA (Vic) is calling for Expressions Of Interest regarding the role of timekeepers at our Sprint events.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the present arrangement with regard to provision of timekeepers by Timetronics will cease at the end of June this year.
AROCA (Vic) is requesting anyone interested in becoming a qualified timekeeper contact me at their earliest convenience.
AROCA (Vic), in conjunction with Timetronics, will provide training at sprint events and at formally organised training classes.  Although an advantage, a background in Motorsport is not a pre-requisite.
If you however have any interest in Motorsport, and in particular volunteering for event management and you want to learn new skills and help the club, this may be for you.
Ideal skills would include but not be limited to some level of background in or exposure to IT, Project Management, Accounting, Process control and Analytical skills.
We plan to begin initial familiarisation of the Timetronics software at Sandown on Sunday 25th February.  Mandy Thompson will be coordinating the initial familiarity session at Sandown.  Please contact me to confirm your interest.

In order to attract more people to contribute towards motorsport admin / time keeping, we are seriously considering competitor involvement.

Likely scenario would be heavily discounted or possibly free event entry.  Only condition would be entrant / driver competes for half the day and does timekeeping the other half of the day.  Could be attractive to some drivers???

As timekeeping setup in the morning would prevent driver attending briefing, a one on one briefing in the afternoon woul be required.  Shouldn't be an issue,  however the briefing is a must do.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Colin.

May 19th sees us at Sandown.  Another great opportunity to drop in to TIMEKEEPING and witness what goes on.
Looks like parade laps will go ahead around mid day / lunch time so what's stopping you from dropping by, having a look at time keeping then a couple of laps behind the Pace Car during the lunch break.
Drop in to Timekeeping after the lunch break - your call.
We have a small group of volunteers likely to help out however we do need more.............people like YOU!

Be there or be square!

Parade laps before and after the lunch break confirmed!
Bring along your Alfa.  You will need to be at track by around 10:30 to sign disclaimer form and then attend a short Drivers Briefing PRIOR to laps behind the Course Car.

Drop in to Timekeeping and see how drivers performance is gathered, logged and archived.
Good coffee and pizzas available for purchase.  Bring your mum for a day out if you didnt catch up with her last week!!!

Sandown worked well.  Around 50 cars over the two parade lap sessions.
Winton is next.  No parade laps, however we again need interested parties to look in on timekeeping with a view to becoming regular volunteers.  The club needs your help.
The egg and bacon rolls from Winton Racetrack Café are magnificent.  Especially in the morning.  Just the smell is well worth the effort.  The club will look after all volunteers as always.
Alfa racing as well as sprints.  A great track for spectating and driving.  Saturday June 9th – be there or be square!

Winton has been run and the quality of driving in challenging conditions was impressive.  Next we are are at Phillip Island this Saturday.

No parade laps, however we plan to incorporate these into the next Broadford meeting.  Once again AROCA (Vic) needs interested parties to look in on timekeeping with a view to becoming regular volunteers.  Club President Mandy Thompson will be coordinating time keeping experiance for those coming down.  The club needs your help.

Weather outlook for this Saturday looks ok.  We have around 90 entries so the day will be spectacular.  A great range of cars including couple of Mito QV's, Alfa 33, couple of Alfa 4C's, Turbo Alfa 155 and a good field of TS Cup Cars - all up 40 entries from AROCA!  The upper levels of the Control Tower is the best location for viewing this amazing track.  To take advantage of this view, Time Keeping is the place to be.

As always the club will look after all volunteers.  Very good coffee!!  Excellent cafe providing outdoor and indoor dining.

Saturday June 30th – be there or be square!

Broadford this Saturday.  Around 60 entries - over 1/3 of them Alfas!

This event will be the first time AROCA (Vic) will be performing all Timekeeping duties in-house.  From this point on, we plan to be pretty well self-sufficient with regard to Timing.  As such, AROCA (Vic) needs assistance from those interested in the role of timekeepers at our Sprint events.
AROCA (Vic) is requesting anyone interested in becoming a qualified timekeeper contact me at their earliest convenience.

AROCA (Vic), in conjunction with input from Timetronics, will provide training at sprint events and at formally organised training classes.  A background in Motorsport would be an advantage, however certainly not a pre-requisite.

Ideal skills would include but not be limited to some level of background in or exposure to IT, Project Management, Accounting, Process control and Analytical skills.

AROCA (Vic) WILL BE CONDUCTING PARADE LAPS this Saturday at Broadford.  These will take place around mid day - probably over the lunch break around 12:30pm.  This will be a great opportunity to run under controlled conditions at a Motorsport Venue very close to Melbourne.  Drivers for the Parade Laps MUST attend a very brief meeting prior to entering the track.  The  2 - 3 laps planned WILL be run behind a PACE CAR at a maxumum speed of 80kph.  A COURSE CAR will run at the rear.  ALL car MUST run between the Pace Car and the Course Car.

While at Broaddford, Please come up to the Timekeeping office and see how it all happens.  The track cafe does great burgers and sandwiches!  Lunch amongst the Alfas is very rewarding.

See you Saturday.  Broadford is only 45 minutes from Melbourne.

Sandown this Saturday.  Over 100 entries - about 30% of them Alfas!

This event will be the second time AROCA (Vic) will be performing all Timekeeping duties in-house.  From July this year, we have had to be pretty well self-sufficient with regard to Timing.  As such, AROCA (Vic) needs assistance from those interested in the role of timekeepers at our Sprint events.
