Title: Alfa 159 AIRCON/RAIN SENSOR
Post by: my159 on December 20, 2017, 10:05:48 AM
Hey 159ers

Is the sensor next the rear view mirror for the wipers only or is it also the aircon sensor which turns on a/c when it detects humidity etc?
This may sound stupid but can i cover it up so I am in control of wipers and a/c system? :-\

Hi my159,

EVERY time I wash the car I "Rainex" the front windscreen.  This tends to delay a build up of the film on the screen that sends the wipers crazy!  Apparently diesel fumes cause the rain sensor to think the screen is "wetter" than it really is.  Since using Rainex the wipers behave themselves!

Using the Rainex does not seem to have influenced the air-con.  It still seems a bit too sensitive to ambient and cabin humidity.  Maybe there's an adjustment for this buried in the chassis ECU somewhere!?!
