Title: Alex Jupe gallery
Post by: poohbah on August 26, 2017, 05:46:43 PM
Someone may have previously posted the link to this UK firm before, but I've only just stumbled across it.

Some absolutely fantastic Alfa/Fiat restos. I really dig the way he's removed the plastic bumpers but kept the plastic chin spoiler from the GTV and GTV6 projects. Food for thought for when I eventually get around to tackling body work on mine.

Something different and definitely an improvement on the aged plastic bumpers look. Not sure how you would go with registration leaving the bumpers off.

Poohbah, That front bumper on the Alfetta may in fact be a French setup . There was a young guy in Victoria about 5 years ago running a very quick Alfetta GTV twin spark that had something similar. ( Bodywork:MC Racing (France) fibreglass front bar.  Here's a link to some photo's when he sold it .

It was a  really well finished car. ( One that years later you would ask yourself, why did I sell that, what was I thinking)

Long live twin spark Alfetta's.

Ha, how funny gully. Coincidentally, just this afternoon I read his posts about fitting that front spoiler setup shortly after he'd finished doing it. Didn't realise he'd offloaded it, and I bet you're right. Awful lot of work to get it it to that state. I wonder what he replaced it with.

Poohbah
Here are several other options in updating that old age plastic bumper look to consider.

Here are 2 photos with and without bumpers. Without bumpers definitely gives it the sportier look but unfortunately not road legal.

Cheers fellas. I currently have bumpers in same colour as duco, similar to Bonno's, but I really like the no bumper look through I think it still needs a chin spoiler. Plenty to do before I get to making a call either way.

Hi Poohbah
For your consideration here are a couple of mock up photos that take in the no bumper bar look as indicated in your previous post. The first photo incorporates a rear end shot that uses a fabricated rear beaver panel covering the fuel tank and spare tyre body work of the standard set up. The second photo of the front utilizes standard front apron with insert of photos of side shot and front of the standard look. The only thing that would need to be done is to remove the side bumper mounting brackets to give it the clean look and fabricate suitable rubber blanking plugs for the front bumper.  These bumper plugs could be substantial to acts as front end protection and make it road legal the rear could incorporate a similar arrangement with beaver panel incorporating cut outs to suit.

That red Auto Italia GTV you posted earlier looks the business Sportiva.

I kinda like the "front heavy" look, but it could definitely look better with a bit of fettling to smooth things out a bit.

I know it makes me a bit of a heretic, but I actually prefer the more angular lines of the plastic bumper models compared with the "boatier" look of the earlier models. That's probably an age thing - I was a teen in the 80s when the GTV and GTV6 really first grabbed my eye. And to my eye, a lowered 3L 75 Potenziata is pretty much the best looking car money can buy...
