Title: My car at Bathurst 2017
Post by: jg1053 on April 24, 2017, 09:46:04 AM
Hi All,

Thought you might be interested in this video, filmed over Easter at Bathurst NSW Australia. I'm pretty chuffed at how my Son, Marcus and the car performed.
We took the car to Winton for a test day, got there late and blew the motor the week before. Took the car home and installed a spare STANDARD motor which had dome in excess of 200k, without a rebuild, just so we could compete.
Watch the amazing result 4th in class against some VERY quick Cortina's. The motor will be kept as a big shrine to ALFA resilience.

Very committed laps Marcus & very quick over the top of the mountain. I don't think the little Giulia had much more to give. Must be itching to get the new engine back in it.

Great stuff Jim. Fantastic vision.

Bloody hell, 195 clicks on Conrod in your Giulia ... did you lose any fillings? ;D

I think at one point behind the Cortina, I could see Marcus looking around for things that weren't well secured to the dash that he could throw out the window for a bit of weight loss  ;D

Marcus might be a little to modest to mention it , but have a look at race 3 for some more inspired driving.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The Giulia was amazing, such a well sorted handling car, very easy to drive hard over the top of the mountain. Thanks heaps to Dad for letting me race it. Planning on a two car assult in the future!!!

Excellent result Jim, it must have been heart breaking to have the race engine blow up so soon to the event but what a good decision to make sure you got to the start.

Speaking of which, Marcus watching you close on that blue Torana was a little heart in mouth I have to say.  Great driving!

Terrific Driving!  Are you sure there was not a car giving you a push down Conrod?

Great driving Marcus.  No wonder the old man is so proud!  Good to see you straightening those corners and traveling less distance than the cars around you.  Car seemed to go exactly where you wanted it to.
