Title: Suppliers of OEM Replacement seat covers for Alfetta GTV
Post by: bonno on March 09, 2017, 07:51:35 AM
Hi fellow Alfistis
I am after the manufactures or reproduction of OEM original front seat covers to replace my tired ones currently fitted to the car (rear seat covers in as new condition). The beading has worn on the DS seat as well as signs of wear around the seat belt attachment area.

Further to my previous post, a search on the net has revealed that reproductions seat covers are available in USA, but only in vinyl or leather. However, there is a company who can manufacture cloth/velour seat reproductions. I have sent them an e-mail requesting confirmation on availability and whether they match OEM seats, as depicted on photos supplied. Another option available to me is to use the centre patterned insert from my seats (no wear or damage) and use them in the manufacture of new front seats. As you can appreciate, this option is a considerable saving to purchasing a full set of leather or vinyl seat covers and door cards, as well as keeping it to original factory spec, with the added benefit of being done by the local trimmer.
Cheers

I've looked at both those suppliers before, but there really isn't anything that seems to be match or structurally compatible with the seats from an earlier GTV like mine.

My seats have been recovered by a previous owner in cheap black velour, and really no longer look anything they should. According to Marco at Centro Documentazione AR, my car was fitted with the "beige rigato" velvet interior (similar to Bonno's I guess).

I suspect the best I can hope for is to find a donor car/interior that's in reasonable nick. I suppose I could probably upgrade to the mesh headrest type from a later GTV/GTV6, but they seem just as hard to find.

Regardless, it looks like a pretty costly exercise.

The company I am currently making enquiries with is at the following link. The site suggests they make cloth to OEM specification by the Old Timers.

Hi fellow Alfistis
Just had a reply from Reoriginals representative on the availability on the subject seat covers. He advises that they do not get many requests for the supply of these and can not provide price or availability at this time, however will contact the manufacturer in Italy and see if they can make as per the pictures provided. I responded to his e-mail advising that there is a lot of interest by members of the AROCA forum members here in Australia and there is a market for this product.

Hi
Advice received from the supplier in Italy state the fabric is no longer available and as such unable to supply. I now have to weigh up my options and look at either fully recover in viny or leather including door cards or use my existing patterned inserts and incorporate these in the recovering of front seats in velour trim to match.

Hi fellow Alfisti
After much deliberation, I have decided to invest in a second hand late model GTV recaro interior, with the intention to have it recovered in tan leather and swap over from the earlier model velour seats currently fitted to the car. The option to either source leather seat covers from O/S supplier or use a local upholsterer is still undecided  as door cards will also need to be done.

Hi
I been getting a number of PM for information on progress of new leather interior and whether I am interested in selling my existing velour interior when removed. Update so far is as follows
1. I decided to go local as the cost for leather reproductions seat covers is not financially viable, ie; purchase,  fit, exchange rate, delivery and door card not available.
2. Cost estimates for upholstery work only $4K - $7K ( I will be fitting).
3. Should be in a position to place order within the next several weeks.
4. 2 months to complete work.
Have included 2 photos of what it should look like, with a specific change to the door cards incorporating angled pleating.
At this stage I am undecided with selling my existing velour interior as I might hold on to  for a future project.
cheers

Best of luck Bonno, hope it turns out like the pics.

But wow - $4-7k is a big bill! Needless to say, I won't be bothering the upholsterer any time soon! :'(

Hi Alfisti
Just a bit of an update on the progress of the Recaro interior for my Alfetta GTV.  Finding a reputable quality trimmer in my area took some considerable effort, but eventually after several enquiries and sighting samples of their work, I found a local trimmer who specializes in custom work interiors. Mine is next to be done after just completed this interior on the pick up truck (pictured below). Hopefully should be ready for Norton Street festa in late October

Hi
Just an update with the seats on the GTV, with the inclusion of some photos.
1. Rear sections complete.
2. Front seats  awaiting embroidery of AR logo and recovering of head rest.
3. Door cards to commence.
Little behind schedule but very happy in the way they are turning out. The delay was attributed to delivery of leather from Italy "July- August" European vacation.

Finally picked up the reupholstered recaro interior and can't wait to fit onto the car. They turned out exactly as per my original design, with the workmanship and quality of the leather exceeded my expectations. Will be fitting over the Christmas break, as the wifes kiitchen renovations are number one priority.

Slight setback with the installation of leather recaro seats. On close inspection of the DS outer bracket assembly, it was discovered that pivot point was missing grub screw and stripped thread. I have decided to utilize the one fitted to the existing seat currently fitted to car and plan to either source a replacement or repair the damaged one. If anyone has a spare or one that is no longer required, send me a PM so we can organise purchase arrangements.

After a hectic few weeks over the Christmas and New Year break and scorching hot weather, I finally got around installing the seats. Find attached photo of the rear seats and door cards installed, with completion expected over the next week.

+1

But Bonno, is the interior really electric blue, or is that just my interweb device distorting reality?

Thanks guys. I think the electric blue effect is the garage lighting, combined with the contrast of the black leather. The tan leather really has a different appearance when viewed under natural light. All up the cost was within my budget of $5K including the donor interior.

Well finally got the seats and door cards installed and very pleased with the result. Find attached photos of the finished  product and it has been quite a transformation from the previous seats as seen in photos from an earlier thread.

Update on availability of velour seat material for the 116 series Alfetta GTV.
It has come to my attention that there is now an O/S supplier of velour material in either beige or black. I have attached link to a post on details at the following link

Further to my previous post, to match OEM configuration the seat material available is to be used for the inserts and door cards, whilst matching velour for sides and vinyl backing (refer to photos attached). However no material for the earlier model GTV’s and GT’s as shown in my original post.

matching velour for sides is crucial because getting in and out of the car this gets worn out first. I don't know if any one has a supplier for the beige velour sides?

Find attached link to supplier of automotive velour trim fabric (black). Additionally, your local automotive upholsterer should be able to assist here with a wider range of products available. The difficulty when I was making enquiries was matching the patterned inserts, not the sides or backing.
