Best outcome, once Dan was out of the running.

Three things looked better though - the Giulia QV, Giulia Veloce and 4C on the Alfa stand in the paddock. All Rosso of course! And they attracted quite a crowd.

But man, what a boring race.  Qualifying, great.  First lap, good.  The rest, zzzzzzzz

I have to admit it was boring
no passing really ,they have to give them less restrictions ,down the tiny straight it was like watching angry mopeds.
thats why i watch motogp
watch it once, and your hooked

You're right Carlo, it was a bit dull. Most excitement we had (at corner 11) was when Grosjean's Haas died and rolled to stop as it was passing, and I think it was Alonso's Maclaren that died just in front of us toward the end. Oh, and one of the Haas' also went slightly onto the dirt on the first lap...

But the Supercars were outstanding - what a fantastic racket they made, plus the sight of guys crashing their way through traffic, fantastic automotive biff. I will have to go to Barbagallo Raceway next time the circus is in Perth.

The FIA narrowed F1 cars 10 < 15 years ago to encourage passing - about the same time as DRS was introduced.  Now the FIA have increased the width of F1cars.  Less passing is the outcome!
Plus cars are now generating an extra G while cornering.  Need to be very brave to pass in a corner now.  All things being equal you will hit the wall with 20% more energy!!!!

I don't blame the drivers for being a bit more cautious.  Still its early yet.  Lets wait and see mid season.

More downforce now which means when following dirty air and that equals virtually impossible to overtake , unless if u are passing maybe a honda powered mclaren

They are finally destroying F1 thats probably why Bernie sold to the americans
he sees that F1 is not viable in the future and he has probably made enough money out of it
so get out while the goings good
very sad

Bernie didn't sell to the Americans.  His employers CVC Capital Partners accepted an offer they couldn't refuse.  As a result, BCE finds himself to all intents and purposes out of a job.  Don't underestimate Carey, Bratches and Brawn.  All three have a decent score on the board.

With regard to Ferrari winning the Melbourne GP, I'm not one of Seb's greatest fans but the tifosi singing Inno di Mameli on the main straight during the trophy presentation brought tears to my eyes!

Was a keen follower of F1, went to a few Melbourne GPs, attended last weekend, the writing is on the wall, the only thing holding it together are the supporting events!
Switched to MotoGP and Superbikes: a lot more action, better technology VS human skill balance, easier to interpret regulations and overall better personalities.

This is a bit off topic but, just wondering.

Anyone on here own the red +1981 GTV 2L that was parked on St Kilda Road next to Royal Botanic Gardens on Sunday morning? I spotted it as went past on the tram around 11.30am on my way to the race. The owner may have been attending the Greek Independence Day event in the gardens. She looked a beauty from a distance.

Yes.  Ross Brawn of Benetton (1 x Championship with MS), then Ferrari (lots more Championships with MS), then Honda / Brawn (1 x Championship with JB), then Brawn / Mercedes / Mercedes - arguably the chief architect of todays Mercedes F1 team!  Not a bad resume!

This bloke knows what is required for success.  As Managing Director of Motor Sport for the new Formula One Group I'm confident this circus is in good hands.

So far he's been good for Ferrari!!

I agree Ross Brawn is the man
and dangerous not to have on side
BUT unless he does something like motogp
where it is competition it will fade
it was always about the drivers and the cars
now its about automated uber taxi and a pit stop
at 120kg and a remote control i think I can win a F1 race
at the moment
heres hoping things change

Very droll Neil. ;D

There were certainly plenty of beauties of the feminine kind at Albert Park on Sunday...
