Title: Model Year
Post by: Elhodgo on January 16, 2017, 08:11:05 AM
Can we tell the exact model year from this image? I'm trying to work out if my Mk1 1750 is a 1968 or 69?

I can see there is a range but would love an exact date?

Thanks

The factory's Centro Documentation service looks to be back on the air.  That'll be your best bet:

As per the Fusi book/numbers....

He has the 1969 year as  chassis number range 1450204 -1451657 so that would suggest 1969.

I know they say it's sometimes a little inaccurate so yes confirmation from Alfa is the way to confirm it all.

That's for a 105.45 gd series.

Cheers,

Paul.

The Australian National register has it as a 1968 model.

As we said Alfa should be able to clear this up....

The range for 1968 in Fusi is 1450001 - 1450203.

'247' is close to the end of the run for that year so who knows anything could have happened!

Cheers,

Paul.

Basically it was an email address where you could send this kind of request to. It was manned by a man (Marco Fazio) who gave great service to us all for a number of years. This was Alfa Romeo's "Centro Documentazione"  (central archives).

He would send back stuff like,

It was made on the dd/mm/yyyy . The colour was yyyy with cccc interior. It was sold to Alfa Australia on the dd/mm/yyyy.

But alas, all good things must come to an end. 'FiatChrysler' have "revamped" the service now (its been off the air for months) and now it costs money (was free before).

To read the full sad & sorry saga go to the link Alistair included above (aggie57) and read the whole thing from page 1.

Cheers,

Paul.

How do I get a copy of this Australian National Register? I'm even more confused now!!!

The National Australian Alfa Romeo Car Register is based on records received from Australian AROCA members who submitted their details,,or were taken from membership renewals.

The register co-ordinator has full details like names and addresses, month, year, chassis + engine numbers.

it is about 50 pages of computer paper.

I received a copy a few years ago without names and addresses (not required)

The register is not complete= every car,,,,just those found or submitted.

Being an Alfa specialist,,I write down all car details on invoices, including engine + chassis numbers, and submitted all my information to him.
Some he already had,,and lots he did not.

Some information submitted by owners was not correct and was put in the relevant sections of the register,,including for example,,a  1967-105 GT 1300 junior,,refitted with a 2000 engine.
The car chassis number put in the correct section for year.
Its a document that is not ready available,,its not complete,,but very usefull to our Australian market.
Fusi was mentioned,,which I use a lot,,but we know it it not totally accurate.

My documents are a few years old,,and will try to get an update soon

Please note,,,,,this register is not available in any way,,

Many cars could have been scrapped over the years,,and many more cars included.

Hope this helps

Thanks guys, looks like my best bet is to try and search centro documentation and go from there. Looks like it might be that it's a 68 from the national register but should check with the Centro first.

OMG this Centro Documentation page is so freekin painfull!!! Has anyone had any luck getting the Italian address to work? I've tried everything but can't get it to work. The forum suggests putting in a dummy Italian address but nothing seems to work. Would be interested if anyone on this forum has got it to work and if so what address did you put in?

Try emailing:
CentroDocumentazione@alfaromeo.com

That's the email that worked before they reshuffled it, may be worth a try.

I tried sending an email to that address a day or do ago...no response. I guess I'll just call it a 68/69 model.

Very frustrating...

That email address is no longer working.  In that thread I posted from Alfabb there is a link to a new website and they charge a small fee now but it's much the same information and Marco used to provide.

Ok so the email to the Centro email got a response and they said they would do the search for me as the site was only letting me put in an Italian address. Since I couldn't get it to work they are going to get the info on my car for me.

Fingers crossed...,

So this arrived today!
I'm £30 poorer and have lost a month of my life waiting but we got there in the end.
I'm the proud new owner of a 1968 MK1 1750 GTV.
Everything adds up too, no surprises. I purchased it from Sydney and the colour of the body/trim match. Super pumped!!!
