Hey guys,
Thought I'd make a thread similar to the AusAlfa thread - Interesting Cars (not your own),
Thread can be found here: http://ausalfa.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1430
So post Alfas for sale that are not yours, just for a bit of fun ;)
To start it off, this very interesting 156 for sale on oaktree: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/caboolture/cars-vans-utes/2002-alfa-romeo-156-sedan/1129911584
Pretty cool colour and wing eh? :o
Andrew.
I like this one,

68k for a 75' Spider .......
That has to be a record, never seen one priced so high. It may be nice and has won some trophies but 280,000km !
68k for a 75' Spider
You might want to be a bit careful about that one. Its posted in the forum classifieds and we know what the rules on commenting are ( don't want Uncle Evan shutting down discussion.)
That being said I did nearly choked on my corn flakes when I read that. But being the owner of a 105 I was pleased to see it . If for example good 105 values are to consistently get to those figures some sale results need to publicly asked & noted . If you ask anyone that has done a total bear metal last nut and bolt restoration on a 105 they probably wouldn't part with it at that number ( probably just break even) .
Also if you look a similar vintage & condition Porsche 911 they are currently getting silly $$$ for the good ones ( quote from a 911 owner I know) . Probably 2 - 3 times that number. The 911 is ultimately a better car than the 105 , but I doubt 2 - 3 times better .
In closing a lot of really good cars never get advertised. They just get scuffled around enthusiasts & baby boomer owners who have finally got the money to get what they want.
Great idea for a thread, Andrew.

I was actually looking for one of these about 18 months ago, but the one I had my eye on got sold from under my nose so I missed out. If I didn't already have my full Alfa allowance, I'd be chasing this one up myself.
Never know, perhaps I will anyway.
Typical - it never rains, it pours.
When I was looking for a 3L 75 - nada. Now another one pops up worth a look.

I have spent the last 6 years restoring the Spider - it had very good bones - it has a genuine logged 173948 miles on the odometer - with only two previous owners, with many parts replaced or rebuilt. It is genuine mileage which one cannot say for many other advertisements. Happy to answer any other questions.
Please understand everyone (Peter included) I am not having a go at the car. Its a great car no question about that.
But, its is a 'Landmark' car in the sense that the price is the highest I have ever seen for a 105 spider as such I think it deserves some kind of discussion
but I understand the 'rules' on our forum (even though a forum is for discussing things) so no more comments from me. Perhaps after its sold.
GLWTS.....
:-X :-X :-X
Cheers.
All good - thanks for the comment - always good to have feedback - looking forward to bringing my Alfa 75 Potenziata down to Spettacolo next year to catch up with you all.
Here is something interesting/different......a 155
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Alfa-Romeo-155-1993/SSE-AD-4279644/?Cr=0
Looks to be in ripping condition too...
Cheers.
Owned by a current AROCA member. Was at Spettacolo.
Interesting also it has the 75 type TS so to speak, while a later 155 I saw recently has the newer Fiat(?) TS, a la 156 TS.
Jim Nielsen brought in a 155 Turbo from Japan years ago and heavily modified it. It is now in the hands of another current AROCA racer.

Not 100% Neil but suspect that's series 1 vs series 2 155. Series 2 also had a wider front track. Good looking 155 BTW.

Didn't we lose a restored QLD Duetto to Japan last year for six figures?
Sure I heard that around the traps. Then again it may be my sub conscious trying to trick me into believing I should continue my duetto lost cause rescue *L*
I don't understand the 'no discussion' rule, so long as it's appropriate and respectful it should benefit everybody

Nice spider Peter, and good luck with the sale, I believe these cars are undervalued, and i also believe there's always someone out there with a pocket full of cash waiting to invest in a great example, some may recall the Le Mans blue 2000 GTV at the classic throttle shop $100K and the red GT junior $76k both sold,
Hi Folks
Couldn't say at the time but my Spider sold on the night I advertised it last Wednesday - coming down to Victoria - I am very happy with the price and thrilled it will be going to a good home - looking forward to seeing "Maria" at Spettacolo next year with the new owner!
Cheers

Great result, I'll take $50K for mine
10k left over to make er red
There's twice as many red 105 alfas out there than Alfa produced, I picked this one instead of a red one to brake the mold
Anyone seen this - looks like a steal!

Yup saw that one, would be a great buy and especially at that price!
Keeping within the 33 theme, this one has come up:

If only it was in vic, I would go and have a look!
Andrew.
Clearly I'm showing my vintage, but I really love the boxy style of all the '80s Alfas. It's why I prefer the later plastic-bumper GTV/GTV6.
That white 33 looks a ripper.

I've got two red Alfas, it's my least favourite colour :-\
I've got one red one out of three ;D
16 valve permanent 4 wagon with the 16 valve front end.... Nice project! (yes, I know it's not a P4)
Jorge: You break the mold, and brake a car to slow it down... Sorry for being pedantic ;D
Hey: on this thread, can we say, "Tell him he's dreamin' "

300 bucks!!! You can't even buy 4 wheels for that!
Again, if only it was in vic...
Andrew.

I loved the video Peter!
Well done on the sale.
These cars are brilliant value for money IMHO!

This is one I like a lot, a 159 SW TI Q4 V6 post mid-cycle refresh. All the right features. It's an automatic though, which is a shame for the type of setup it has.
https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/_/SSE-AD-4115999
What I don't understand is that it's been up for ages. I saw it not long after I first came to visit Melbourne in March, so it's been up for at least 6/7 months. I think the price is a bit steep and the seller has only dropped the price a couple hundred bucks so far, so maybe he's just not willing to do anything with the price. It's a bit of a unicorn car though, I had expected it to go pretty quickly. There's not many Q4 TI wagons out there.
I might at some point make a lowball offer, but we'll see. With the current price of this car it's cheaper to get a non TI one and swap the TI parts over.
Hi mate. As someone who has always had manuals, I currently own a V6 156 with a Q-system autotrans. While its not quite as good as the 6sp manual I had in my first 156, it is very good for an auto, especially given you can shift manually with a H-pattern shift.
Not sure if the 159 has a similar set-up, but I'd suggest you go and give it a test drive. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Nah I know, I've driven plenty of automatics and they're really not that bad. When I first came to Melbourne I thought of getting one because of all the traffic. And then I thought I might as well get a small engine, because can't drive fast here anyways. And then I thought I would just get a Toyota, because I wouldn't be able to enjoy my car much around the city anyways ;)
Automatics are fine, but I just prefer manuals. And if I'm getting the car I want, I'm getting exactly the car I want. Manual and all :)
Fair enough.
I still have my manual '81 GTV to play with on weekends ... though I wouldn't describe its early 5sp transaxle box as a delight. Certainly takes some finesse.

"The only 164 in Australia with a 24V motor" - Surely not?
How about this for anyone seeking an Alfetta sedan. Can't remember the last time I saw one in the flesh on the road.

Nah, there are quite a few 24v's in Australia, I know of around 5 off the top of my head.
That Alfetta looks pretty good, although I can see some rust coming through around the bootlid area.
Andrew.
Bound to be a bit of rust - car is in Harvey, pretty damp dairy country 2 hours south of Perth.
This car is not located in Australia, but it is so unique that I had to post it. It is a fully armoured 164 with 'reinforced maximum armour from the firm "bunting" of Milan.... sheet metal totally armoured tires glazing (double lock with steel reinforcements all the glass more than 3cm... car built x protect the Benetton family in the late 80's'.
How cool is that?! I want it hahaha.
https://www.classic-trader.com/au/cars/listing/alfa-romeo/164/164-2-0-turbo/1989/67524
Andrew.
Edit: The more you know, Luciano Benetton is an Italian billionaire businessman, one of the co-founders of Benetton Group, the Italian fashion brand. He has 4 kids and apparently is worth $2.9 billion.
Good to see La Famiglia Benetton has more stile than James Bond 007 in cars, apart from 007 having once driven a GTV 6 of the 80s, i think octopussy
QuoteIt is a fully armoured 164 with 'reinforced maximum armour from the firm "bunting" of Milan
Now that is cool, they I suspect it might be a tad on the heavy side.
But it also reminds me of a fantastic TV drama series on SBS On Demand called "Italy 1992" - loosely based on the rise of Berlusconi amid the political turmoil and mafia-killings of judges and prosecutors at that time. And lots of period cars, like this 164. Worth a look.

Check the running gear. A suitably prepared twin spark would probably look better
Anybody seen it on know about it .
Yes Paul I see this car on a regular basis , is a very pretty little car, would buy it in a heart beat if my wife let me
Why don't you buy it for her birthday .
Because I want to stay married
I don't know what it is with women and Alfa's. I have been told if I want to bring another one home, I will have to find somewhere else to live . By myself.
when u find a place u might have plenty of flatmates to share the rent (from this forum) LOL
QuoteI don't know what it is with women and Alfa's
Both my wife and daughter flat out refuse to even sit in my GTV. They will also only travel in my 156 if its unavoidable (my wife says she feels like she's sitting on the floor, and my daughter has felt nervous about riding in anything other than our much bigger Subaru Forester since we got T-boned by a red-light runner 2 years ago).

.
Same at our place. My son is not sure whether he likes the poke of the Alfetta Twin spark , or the grace and beauty of the 105 . I have told him he will have to make up his mind because one day in the future I'm going to be buried in one of them
My daughter just got her L's and has told everyone (at school) she has an alfetta GTV
they have no idea what that is or if there is cure but she sits in it at night pretending
SHE HAS IT BAD
maybe worse than i ever had it
Don't know if this has been posted before - but looks like a darn fine way to get into track work for beer money.

no mention about the motor?
sounds odd no photo either
I thought that too - though says its fuel injected. Obviously you'd want to check with the seller if you were half interested.
My bet would be a twin spark.
