Without going out and looking, I'd say maybe its from the manual throttle control which is just inside the bulkhead in the engine bay on drivers side?
Could be, I can't find a place for it, oh well into the spare parts bucket, hope your gtv is treating you well, cheers.
Pretty sure that's where its from (see pic). Its attached to the short cable from one of the two choke pulls on the dash, which I think is supposed to anchor the cable to the manual throttle lever by hooking through the hole at the end of the lever.
I disconnected mine (as shown) because the wire was so so short it permanently held the throttle slightly open. I suspect the wire had previously snapped leaving it slightly short of the required length.
I may be completely wrong of course.Your barrel looks slightly different to the one in the pic.
