Title: Phillip Island Historics - Shannons Alfa Display 7 & 8 March
Post by: Sportscar Nut on February 03, 2015, 08:44:42 PM
The club is participating in the Shannons Display Walk again this year so is a great opportunity for members to come down and watch the best weekend of motor racing in Australia (IMO) and display your Alfa.

We have about 20 spots for Saturday and Sunday so let me know if you are interested. Free entry for car & driver and half price for all passengers.

Highly recommended weekend of historic motor racing and should be plenty of Alfas on track.

Plan is to meet at Smiths Beach shops (Smiths Beach Road) at 8.15am Sat & sun which is a couple of minutes from the track and drive in together to ensure a good parking spot on the main straight opposite the pits.

Regards

Title: anyone from Bayswater/Knox area going with a spare seat?
Post by: obersturm on February 04, 2015, 03:58:07 PM
Hi all,

anyone from Bayswater/Knox area going?

If you have a spare seat I could possibly offer accommodation at a friends beach house at Smith Beach in return...
Or maybe you have a spare car to display but no spare driver 8) :o ;D

Paul,

I'm keen to go and have a look - but the powers that be (ie. trouble and strife) are unlikely to give me a whole weekend away pass. Is there a program anywhere (I can't find one by googling) that would tell me which of Saturday or Sunday would be better to look at ?

Obersturm - not far from you - happy to give you a lift, but at this stage I think I may only be down there for the Saturday (therefore you'd have to find another kindly soul to give you a lift back on the Sunday) .. if the accommodation offer is a definite 'goer', maybe I could mount a good argument for a permission slip from the missus
Potsie.

Hi Potsie,

If you were to pick one day Sunday would probably be the better one. At some of the historic race meetings I have attended not all of the cars have run on the Saturday. Generally more spectators attend on the Sunday so there is more happening on the track. :)

Thanks Neil and what a fantastic line up of Alfa's to support. Both Group SB & SC running this year is great for those that appreciate a full grid with 105 & 116 Alfas racing. The effort these guys & girls make to get the cars racing deserves strong club support!

For events details, google Victorian Historic Racing Register for racing program from Fri to Sun. Sat is typically a better day IMO as some cars sadly don't make Sunday! Please call or SMS me to lock in either Sat or Sun (or both).

Cheers
Paul

Hey Potsie,

thanks for the offer, that would be very nice-even if it was just for the Saturday or Sunday.

I am still awaiting def. confirmation, but I am 8O% sure no one else has dibs on that week end.
I send you an email so we can confirm off the forum.

Hi Potsie,

send you PM and Email.

Accommodation is unfortunately a no go for the week end.  :-\

Are you still going?
I am keen but would also be able to do just Sat. with a friend from the Porsche fraternity unless you feel you could give me a lift on Sunday back home...

Hi Paul,

Please put me down for a ticket.
I will be driving my 147 GTA to the Island on the Saturday & Sunday would love to meet the group at Smiths Beach prior if there are any remaining spots.

Cheers
Andy

Let me know if your interested in attending ASAP as running low on tickets (I have you down for a ticket Andy).

We also require someone who can get to the track early on Sat morning to ensure we get a good position. Let me know if you can assist.

Thanks
Paul

Guys my wife just booked us to be down at phillip island for the weekend. I can get a pass for an hour or two. What should I come and do/see? Happy to pay for a ticket if need be. Hopefully I'll have the GTA of I can fit everything inside to accommodate family of 4 for the weekend

Lots to see Pasey at the Historics so get as much free time as you can. Would check out the pits and some of the track action.

Enjoy
Paul

thats good.

just the same, I'd be keen to know a good time to do so. If there is a walk through time for pit areas etc, that would be my preference.

If there were a schedule (or suggested time) that would be great.

I've never made it to a track event so I would be very interested.

Given I'll be dumping the family for a while I'll have to plan in advance though. Won't be able to just wing it.

Well we basically have a full house both days so great to see the Alfa's turning out for the weekend.

Meeting at 8.15am sharp on Sat & Sun morning at Smiths Beach Road shops, Smiths Beach and will drive in as a group so the cars can be parked together.

Regards
Paul
