Title: Ferrari F1 is now Alfa
Post by: lombardi on January 31, 2015, 07:39:03 AM
Ferrari Formula one car launched yesterday displays the Alfa logo on it's side, now there is no excuse but not to follow il cavallino, talk about winding back the clock, lets hope the paddle shifts are not selespeed,if not we might struggle more than last year and sir Vettel will not be happy German.

interesting NO FIAT logo but now alfa
there was a rumour that for the other formulas alla 2? they would be alfas racing not ferrari
and as we know alfa is moving into more small turbo cars like fiat possibly some interesting alfa motors might finally pop out and disappear (testing) reliability 4C speciale
But this is all a dream albeit a nice dream

Another rumour doing the rounds is that Alfa Romeo might enter Indycars as an engine supplier to spearhead their comeback to America.
Hope it would be more successful than the last one in the 80's, the paddock gossip was that Ferrari, sick of Bernie Ecclestone in Formula 1 built a engine to go Indycar racing and got what they wanted in Formula 1, decided not to go to American racing and pull out of Formula 1, so Fiat didn't know what to do about these engines and money down the toilet, so they were rebadged 'Alfa Romeo', and they didn't cover themselves in glory.
The best driver Ferrari have had for the past 10 years since Shuey has now gone to Honda McClaren, unless Ferrari can get Adrian Newey across from Redbull, it will be another character building year for Ferrari.
Still be cheering on Dan Ricciardo in the Redbull followed by a Ferrari driven by Kimi, Colin.

ferrari is very unhappy with the current formula as it doesnt represent the basic ethos of the ferrari camp and the current formula "bernies formula"is one more suited to the more shall we say affordable car suppliers hence the entrance of Alfa and maybe BMW will come back
Also I believe 2 of the formula 1 teams are up for sale and 1 is doing the rounds in Australia to find investors.
Any Takers? I dont know about you but I find the current formula 1 quite mundane and I can Understand Ferrari's point of view

But at the end of the day, the rules are the same for everyone, Ferrari have always liked 12 cylinder atmospheric engines that reflect their road cars.
Formula 1 has always been expensive, Frank Williams said a few years ago that Formula 1 was no more expensive now than when he first started in Formula 1,.....he couldn't afford it then and he can't afford it now.
Marrusia and Caterham have gone broke, but that is the nature of an expensive business.
Bring on 2015 so i can turn up to work on monday mornings with 2 hours sleep, Colin.

Are there any alfas or Fiats in the bathurst 12 hour this sunday?

Formula E doesn't make the right noises, we don't need another open wheel formula, anyone remember   A-1?, all the Formula E drivers are refugees from Formula 1 or drivers not good enough.
Formula 1 will be around forever, as it will and always be the series everyone aspires to, they sometimes don't get it quite right and they fiddle with it throughout the years, but to me the golden years were the 1.5 unrestricted turbocharged days of the 80's, when Alfa Romeo were a team and a engine supplier, before Fiat took over in 86 and said NO.
Don't know if there are any Fiats or Alfa Romeo's in this years Bathurst Moly 12 hour, but last year, were there some Fiat 500 Arbaths?, will be watching the coverage on channel 7 as opposed to the V-8 show and shine day on Foxtell, Colin.

did you hear the v8 series has effectively barred their drivers from it,by putting on an event the same day and their contracts wont let them out evidently Lowndes is furious and rightly so !!
for me the golden age of formula 1 was the v12s and turbos in fact the crossover when they had both was the peak for me
ps the drivers in the "ë" formula are actually alot of famous formula one guys sons Prost,Heidfield,Piquet
and I agree the noise is wrong but at least they don't do what BMW and ALDI sorry audi do is play a different  engine sound through the stereo to make it sound better ,its a blue pill solution.Nobody gets the sound out like alfa and ferrari and maybe lambo and masser

evidently the"s" button in German cars stands for STEREO not SPORT like in other countries !

The V-8 show and shine day is to stop the V-8 rivers competing in other series to stop the star status of Lowndes and Van Gisbergan rubbing of on other series.
The Bathurst Moly 12 hour is fabulous and is certainly much more entertaining than the V-8 'test session', which is a way of showing off the new cars, drivers and sponsors.
I am old enough to actually see the Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team, sponsored by Benneton with the legendary Alfa Romeo Engineer, Dr. Carlo Chiti, i may have teared up on that day, but it was most likely the petrol fumes of the times, and boy wasn't it a great smell.
The drivers in Formula E are the sons of famous drivers, not the famous drivers themselves.
Like the term ALDI, must remember that for future reference, Colin.

The new breed of hyper road cars are hybrids. Mid-tier sports cars like the BMW M3, Ferrari 458 and Porsche 911 are going turbo. The days of NA sports cars will soon be memories as will V12 Ferraris. Sad but true.

Current testing during the off season, Ferrari is the fastest, driven by Vettel, doesn't mean a thing, they try out different bits and pieces, the cars are not checked for compliance with the rules, just for safety.
When practice opens in 5 weeks at Albert Park, and the cars run as with the 2015 rules, 'when the flag drops, the bull5hit stops'.
Wouldn't be the first time a team has come out of the blocks and posted a quick time to impress a nervous sponsor, Colin.
