Title: hello there, I just bought my first Alfa, a 2002 156 V6 2.5 Monza
Post by: Dr Pangloss on February 28, 2014, 01:37:54 AM
I have my Alfa at last, And I'm loving it ! I have wanted an Alfa for thirty years,
It's a Monza and the only difference from a normal  2002 156 V6 2.5 24v  that I can tell is it has orange gauges,
It came with two sets of alloy wheels, the five hole phone dial 16" and 17" three hole "biohazard" {if it has a correct name please tell me] as they both need new tyres Can I ask ? 16" 205/555R16 or 17"225/45/R17 ? I was thinking Pirelli P7's or Continental sport contact 2 ? and any help would be appreciated

PS any know where I can get spoiler with the brake light in it ? I think t is the proper Alfa one

Welcome aboard Dr P. Biohazard, love it. Go the 17" with the monza, it will look better. Either tyre choices are good. Can't help with a spoiler, usual suspects I guess for sourcing it eBay, Alfa wreckers etc. finally we can now get medical advice too  :o

Pining for 30 years, wow make sure you maintain the car for many years of driving enjoyment. Did it come with service history? If not it wouldn't hurt to get an Alfa specialist nearby to give it a once over.

2002, 156, is it the series 1 with black mirrors and black rubbing strips on the bumper, or is it the series 2, [non facelift], with the colored bumpers and painted mirrors, with the information display on the dashboard, with the 3 chrome dial climate control?.
There are different rear spoilers you can get, before you hand over your money, put a blanket on your bootlid and put spoiler on boot and see if it obscures too much rear vision, don't want to pay good money and paint the spoiler and drill the holes in your boot, only to find you can't see out the back, Colin.

Welcome Dr P. I too wanted an Alfa for decades, and two years ago purchased a 2001 6sp manual 156 with the Busso 2.5L V6. Mine has lowered springs and teledial alloys, no spoiler though.

Nothing beats the growl of that V6. I'd love to see a pic of yours. Here's mine below.

Its my pride and joy - may yours bring as much happiness to you!

Thanks C. J.
Here's a photo of my car, has a good service history, not driving much yet will get a once over, had a Fiat CC 124 back in 86, was looking for an Alfa then, but life happens,
I'm not a Doctor, Dr.P was a character in my favourite book Candide by Voltaire, Pangloss was a bad philosopher {comic} His quote, "this is the best of all possible worlds"  as the kids say today "it's all good" krap three hundred years ago, krap now

I have a photo up now, Series one black mirrors and black rubbing strips, thanks for the tip I am looking for the small one with build in tail light, I talked with a guy with large spoiler hard to open the boot,

Cheers for the pic Dr P. She is a beauty, bit of lippy and she'll be sweet!

And thanks for the compliment. I reckon the grille gives it a lift.

Yeah I figured that may have been the case, just having a bit of fun. The only thing 'holey' about my user tag is my socks and undies OMG
