Title: A Return to the Crusader's Cross and the Serpent
Post by: AJH159 on June 14, 2013, 08:34:53 AM
Hi everyone,
Having spent the last few weeks enjoying the content of this and related forums in preparation for collecting the most recent addition in my ongoing love affair with all things Alfa Romeo, I thought it would be remiss if I didn't take the time to join the community and introduce myself.
I reside in the Bayside suburbs of south east Melbourne and have recently ditched the trusted Disco for a 2008 159 2.2 JTS Ti (Black on Black). This is my 6th Alfa Romeo so I think it is safe to say I am truly addicted    ;D
It is a wonderful feeling to once again slide behind the wheel of a car that highlights why I have always enjoyed driving, as opposed to commuting.
I am looking forward to continuing to learn from other forumites and I hope to contribute where I can (although I am definitely mechanically challenged :-[)
Thanks for having me!!

Welcome back - we missed you!

With a line up of cars like that (and with you being mechanically challenged and all), you certainly appear a glutton for punishment in respect of cars the press perceives as unreliable...hopefully you can be a voice of reason?

Can we infer that the BMW was the least best purchase decision you made? That would be an interesting commentary as part of the story above.

Cheers
Torben

Thank you everyone.
It is true that I have tipped more of my hard earned cash into fixing my Alfas than my friends have for their carefully selected and reliable methods of transport :o but I note said friends have always been keen to drive my cars when they were actually working!! ;D
As for the Bimmer, I can't even begin to understand what I was thinking when I went in that direction, but I can say that I have illnesses that lasted longer than that episode...

Hey AJH159, i notice your second Alfa was a 85 33TI, nice work, i purchased mine in 86 and its still chugging around today as a daily driver, once you have an Alfa, its an addiction thats hard to shake off, but with such great cars, why would you?, all the new Alfa Romeo cars have got over all the old Alfa problems of crook electrics and rampant rust, so all the old jokes don't apply, Colin.

Nothing wrong with German cars (hey, Al?)  :)   I've been known to lean towards the Bavarian side also.

But still love the Italian styling and idiosyncrasies of the Alfas.  But as Col said, such old stories are disappearing thru the great reliability of the recent Alfas (at least ours is)!

Welcome back to the fold!!  ALFA = Always Looking For Another!
