How did the meeting go Neil?
Hi there All
Updating on the meeting, so far we planning on having the supp regs and ef out by end of month or early June, Doug Gould and Alister Grigg are working hard on them.
We are expecting a full field with all the interest so far.
Organizationally, things are in order as much of the ground have been done from previous years, but the usual smoothing out of procedures.
We are seeking a naming sponsor so if your business wishing to support and promote itself through a club level grass root motorsport event which has 250 competitors and as many spectators and supporters then we would like to discuss with you.
If anyone wanting to be involved, please contact us.

hey Neil, is there any truth in the rumour that there will be no single team sheds this year, all sheds will be shared between 2 teams, is that correct?

Hi Big Trev,
I think I can answer this. It depends on entry numbers. There are 40 garages, a couple are reserved for admin etc so if we get 38 entries then yes it will be just one team per garage. Otherwise, if you want an extra shed then I think it's on a 'first in best dressed' basis.
Cheers,
Thanks for the info Phil
Hi there all
Please pencil in Thursday 4 September for the AROCA 6hr Relay Information Night
To be held at 7:30 pm, Bell's Hotel, corner Conventry and Moray Street, South Melbourne

Also this meeting is vital for team managers.
Organizationally, Supp Regs and EF are being worked on and be available in about a week's time.
Looking like a full field with all the interest and teams entering multiple teams because of the fun they had in the previous events.
Neil
I am planning publishing supp regs and ef, hopefully this weekend, but still completing on the scoring. So be aware of this. Doug, Alister David and crew will complete this later. We will get entries going first.

Hi Ian,
Guess you guys are only doing 3 hrs!!!!!!
Not a problem, is this the same teams as Peter Short's, presume so.
I think the closing date is in Sept or Oct, but send me your paperwork asap so I can log your teams' places.
Neil
hi neil
no we are not on steves team i wish he was on ours ,we have two teams of toyotas
about 8celicas and some corrolas levins etc
so look out
lol
ian :D
Good news Ian.
As Neil says, get your paperwork in and that way at least you can be a little confident of securing your spot. It will be good to see you lot there again.
Hi there all
Just a quick note to all Alfa members, all past 6 hr competitors and other interested competitors. You may have contacted me and/or expressed interest in entering a team, my advice now is that you must submit your entry now or asap as there is high interest and team spots are filling up.
If you are still filling your team with drivers, the very least is to submit a team and payment, you can enter the drivers later (not too late though).
Even though you have told me of your interest and I have listed your team on my EOI list, I really do need your paperwork to confirm your place.
So please send in your entry asap.
Regards
Neil

Hi there all
Pleased to inform all that the AROCA 6 hr 2008 has reached a full field of over 40 teams.
So the event is full and cannot accept any more entries.
Fantastic show of support from the car clubs, really stamps AROCA 6 hr as the best grass roots club level motorsport event in the state.
Also over 20 business are supporting the event, list will be published shortly, they will contribute to helping the officials and volunteers of the event.
Looking forward to a fabulous weekend of club motorsport fun and competition.
Regards
Neil
Dear Team Managers, Team Volunteers and competitors,
Only 4 weeks away from what is expected to be a fantastic weekend of grass roots club level competition, an absolutely full
field, well oversubscribed 2 months out and tremendously supported, thank you to you all. Organizationally, I think
it is all coming together and everyone on the committee is working hard to make it a successful and well organized and run event. It is also good to catch up with all the competitors who we see possibly only once a year.
Please find attached the entrants list which includes your team number, your race number and your garage allocation.
Garage allocation is as follows: facing the rear of the double garage, Garage 1 is the one on the left, 1A is on the right. Or from the timing tower, the order is 1, 1A, 2, 2A, 3, 3A etc.
You can order race numbers from Jeff Smith (instasign@three.com.au) or 0417 319 200, the numbers can be collected at Winton.
You need numbers on both sides of the car and on the top left hand corner of your windscreen (in day-glo orange), refer to the supp regs
AROCA has arranged for the Functions Centre at Turn One of the circuit be available for all spectators and teams. You are most welcome to make use of this facility. There will be tables and chairs, and umbrellas for shelter. It is certainly an excellent viewing venue rather than being behind the pits and garages, therefore I encourage you all to use this facility. Great place for the kids and family groups. Encourage all your club members to come up with their family.
AROCA ais organizing event shirts and caps, they will be available for sale, inexpensive and something to remember the event by. So please bring some cash up and support the event.
Maree and Mary will be conducting a raffle with lots of goodies in several hampers. So don't be surprised if they come to you with tickets for sale.
In the coming week:
I will be sending out the volunteers' roster, the team volunteer will be reporting to the Volunteers Coordinators and then performing the allocated duty at the specified time. Don't worry too much, the duty isn't too arduous and will only be for 1-2 hr for the weekend.
I will be sending out the manager's kit in electronic form and paper form can be collected at check in.
Attached is the drivers check-in procedure and drivers' briefing sign-in procedure. Also a scrutineering queue protocol. Please be familiar with these procedures to make things run smoother, especially on Saturday morning.
I would like to thank all the supporters of the event, who are as listed ALFA-betically.
Without their support, the event will not be the same. I would encourage all competitors to support these businesses.

Hi guys, was reading the supp regs again (couldn't sleep!) and came across this under 5.10 Communication in the pits.
" Many pits have TV connection points that allow access to the event timing."
Is it still planned to have this system up and running? What sort of information will be available, is it lap times from the timing system of the cars on the track that will be displayed or is it an updated event schedule? Worth bringing a TV up?
Hi Colin
Probably worth bringing up a TV if you like and have room.
From what I saw, you can plug the aerial/receiver and have laptime updates from the timing system.
Neil
Last year I had the plasma tv in the garage with the times, it was not that useful just interesting. We mainly had it setup for whoever was sitting in the car waiting to go out could watch what was going on.
All you need is your TV and your standard TV coax cable. It tells you the fastest lap for each car and the last lap time for each car.
Yea that could definatly be interesting for people in the pit, thanks for the info guys
Just a few more sleeps to go....... :)
Funny you say that, no sleep for me and a few others!!!!!!!!!
Hope it all comes together well, fingers and toes crossed.
Neil
First long range forecast for the weekend (in case anyone might be wondering ;))....
Fri Fine 27C
Sat Fine 30C
Sun Shower or two 22C
looks like a carbon copy of last year!

Just reading thru the regs- 8.2 a) No alcoholic liquor or drugs may be consumed in the paddock area until the completion of the event. So everyone can get drunk and stoned at the presentation!?! :) Just joking.
4 sleeps to go :D
Good luck everyone
Do we have a 'bookie"? i wanna place a bet :D

I will be heading over tomorrow afternoon, the tyres I bought for the event have a too small profile, so we are going to be offering them up for sale at the event.
They are brand new Avon Slicks 15 x 550 x 185 (but measure 205) $140 each, these have been put on rims, but have not turned a wheel.

Fantastic Event, three billion cheers to Neil and all those that put in their time to bring it all together.

What a cracker. I love these events. Bring on November '09!
Congrats to two of the Weltmeister teams for a 1/2 finish and Team Healy for 3rd.
Special mention to Team Alfa NSW who were the top Alfa team this year, a great effort given most of them were new to a 6 hour event and (I think) all were new to Winton.
on behalf of team classic celica and team toymods and oddbods
thank you for a wonderful event we had lots of questions , and there were always cheerful and helpful answers
and a special thanks to neil choi and the dedicated officials and volunteers , ;D well done ,
Same as Ian, well done to Neil on the whole AROCA 6 Hour Team, it was again well run - thanks on behalf of J & A No Bull Racing.
It was just a pity we couldn't get our times right - ::) :D
See you all in 2009. October 18 / 19 wasn't it?
Team results please for those not so fortunate as to being there...
Hey Everyone!
Club Shop has still got some 6-hour Event shirts left for sale, they are 100% cotton - very nice for those picky peoples ;)
they are $35 each and I will put some pics up soon. Thanks to everyone who bought the shirts and other things from the shop! Hope you all had a good weekend...

C'mon results please????
Ed, Your right.
I've checked Natsoft. Trying to get results for the six hour is like a trying to results from a half senate election. Maybe the results will be available to the casual observer sometime within the next working lifetime.
Natsoft is near on impossible to understand for any regularity events.
I think Neil is the only one with the official results at this stage.....he has probably crawled into a corner somewhere in a foetal position and muttering something along the lines of 'never ever again.....until next year'. At least thats what I would be doing if I had to go through the organising of the 6 hour :D
I am sure the results will be posted soon.
Quote from: Paul Gulliver on October 28, 2008, 04:01:29 PM

That's a bit rough mate, many people have done a lot of work to make the 6 hr a success. Many people who weren't running made the trip up to help out at the event. It's also a big job to collate the results afterwards and present them in a readable form to upload.
All unpaid and voluntary work.
This is all I can remember, and is probably wrong in a few details.....
1. Porsche team 2
2. Porsche team 1
3. Team Healey
5. Team Alfa NSW
7. Mauceri Motors
8. Maschi di Alfa
14. Team Trofeo
Sorry, that's all I remember.
My fault, didnt mean to get anyone riled.
The first year the results (at least 1,2,3) were presented immediately after the event so i just thought that'd be the same this year...
The results from 41 to 1 were announced immediately after the event by Neil on a podium
I am sure Neil will post them out or on here in due time.
I spoke to Neil last night - he is literally in a foetal position until Wednesday recovering. He'll collate and post full results after that.

As I recall, the first year the results weren't known until the club night 3 days later. Last year the results were announced to all present about 1 hour after the event. As Big Trev said, the same thing happened this year.
Hundreds of event photos have been loaded up on www.ifpix.com
Thanks Neil and all those involved in the organising of a great event.
First time any of the Team Alfa NSW has raced at Winton and we all thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality, weekend ... and the track !!
To come 5th overall and first Alfa team was an absolute bonus ... not that we would want to mention that to our Victorian friends.
