Title: 159 JTD 2.4 Diesel Fuel Consumption
Post by: volare on May 09, 2010, 05:02:51 PM
G'Day,

I know this is not everyones favourite topic but what sort of figures (L/100km) are you all getting.

Consumption from your computers on board or tank to tank fill, (eg. how accurate in the onboard computer).

Also interested is year model of your cars as supposedly the MY09 series newer 2.4L JTDm 154kw engine has been tweaked for better comsumption (6.8L/100km combined)??

Another querry, if someone would know (before I ask Alfa Australia) why doesn't the Alfa website show this improved consumption? and why does it state 147kw of power instead of the 154kw.

Some specs (redbook.com.au) show:
Auto sedan

Urban 9.4
Extra Urban 5.6
Combined 7.0

Alfa website:
Urban 11.6
Extra Urban 5.9
Combined 8.0

(I believe the latter!)

Please when you state your numbers advise Auto/Man and your driving type City/Highway/Comb and driving style Aggrssive/Moderate/Slow.

Thank you gentlemen.

Unfortunately I'm getting 14.4 L/100 km in mainly city driving (not an aggressive driver) which seems unbelievably poor. In comparision a previously owned ford Falcon 4 l petrol 4 speed auto got better consumption doing the same driving. I would also like to hear what others are getting - surely something is wrong with my car?
Thanks

I have a petrol  current Spider that gives me 10.5 - 11 around town and 8.5 on a Melb-Adelaide return and 8.0 Mel-Syd return

I think you need to look at ther figures once the car is properly warmed up, ie after 20mins of driving . Watch the oil temp gauge . I have a petrol 2.2 JTS 159. Work is a 20 min commute in the morning  and the figures only get better after that.

Hey Paul what are your 159 petrol figures - I must say I am impressed with mine around town but thought it might be a little better on a long trip

As i said earlier its bloody  ferocious first thing in the morning , but once warmed up its OK . The last time i checked it was about 13/100 around town and 8/100 on a trip. I usually fill up once a week and get just under 600k on a tank. Its not to bad for a big car with a small engine.

Just as a matter of interest i have been driving my wifes Golf TSI 118 (1.4 twin charged petrol engine) this weekend. After re setting the trip computer, technology not used by the "war office". On a trip down to the Mornington Peninsula it was getting down to around, less than 5/100 @100 - 110 on the freeway which i thought was pretty impressive

I've had my 2.2JTS wagon for a few weeks and the computer is showing around 13litres/100k around town. Highway is averaging 7.5litres/100k. I suspect the weight of the car doesn't help matters on the stop/start...

Mine (1.9JTD SW) averages 6~7 L/100k round town Brissy CBD
I can get 3.7 sitting on 90ks cruise control (when warmed up) driving between brissy and the gold coast.

Love the torque too :)

Low-down torque in the petrol 2.2 is lovely. It's a pity it doesn't rev like you would it expect it to. I would hope an ECU re-mapping should fix that shortcoming.
