Title: Engine oil for supersprinting
Post by: k76 on January 03, 2010, 01:53:33 PM
Any views on what type of oil is best suited for running a standard nord engine around the track? I've been using Castrol GTX 20w-50 so far, but I've read some reports that Castrol has changed the formula for the worse.

Look up the Penrite web site for background info but a good reliable oil for these engines would be HPR30.

I guess it depends on your budget. I have used Penrite Mineral Oil with no problems. However if your motor has been tweeked then I would recommend Penrite FULL Synthetic or Martini or Shell in that order given Penrite is Australian - Support Australia.

Penrite HPR30 in a good engine on cool to warm days.  HPR50 for an older engine or on really hot days.

Change it before each sprint and see how the high detergent levels clean out the engine over time.

Least that's my experience.
