Guys and girls, my beloved Q, which I've had since 92 has copped a serious shunt in the backside by a young 20 yo who wasn't looking in the school grounds. Stupid me didn't have it insured for a high enough value (note to self, never do that again). I have decided to take the pay out and repair the car. The only damage is to the boot, rear bumpers, and back panel. There is no damage forward of the rear wheel arches. Upon discussion with the panel beater he said it may be cheaper to buy a parts 164 and just use the rear panels off it, if they are ok of course. My question is , where do I start looking . I could always keep the rest of the 164 to use as parts, it would be cheaper in the long run, eg a replacement seat belt cost me $150. Thanks in advance.
Try some Auction sites...maybe you could find one that's taken a hit to the front.

Well done on the decision to fix it too...its always sad to see rare and beloved cars get damaged.
you canpick up a 164 on ebay for around 500 to 1000 and there still driveable
They come up on ebay moderately regularly. Remember that the 3l engine has value. You may by a whole car for the value of the engine.

It's almost ready. Should be back on the road in the next week or so ;-). I'll post before and after photos.
