Title: 2600 Sprint - Power Steering Options?
Post by: Beatle on June 12, 2025, 08:32:45 PM
No offence intended, but has anyone heard of a power steering conversion on a 2600 Sprint?

And to finish off those originality sticklers choking on their second-to-last breath  ;) , I'm after ideas on fitting aftermarket air-conditioning?

I would have a look at what is available in the way of modern electric (out of sight) system which goes into the steering column shaft.
There are a few people around Europe who make the add-on electronic control units to control the motor system in order to use a commonly available second-hand system from a dismantled car.
When I looked a couple years back, in Europe they were using Ford Focus, Opel Astra and other common column units for which you could buy the various electronic control matchbox on eBay UK, Germany, Italy etc.
I am also going to look at electric air-con as well. All for a 2600 Berlina....Mafia staff car.

There is plenty of scope to install after market air conditioning equipment just don't make the mistake of installing the evaporator and fans in the boot with the air register outlets in the rear parcel shelf. Perfect way to get a frozen neck while the front of your body is in a sweat.

Effective air conditioning is not just about the air temperature. It is equally important for air movement to scrub heat from the passenger/s. Intelligent routing of ducting under the dashboard and well positioned air registers are critical to a successful install.
