Any recommendations or good experiences?
What DID you buy?
Bazz: I'm guessing it's German.
They've all got contacts for backloads and barter referrals, the small firms. I've used Riverina Car Carriers, and a chap called Peter Woolcott, who I found through another transporter called Mal Petersen ("Kiwi Mal").
Been a few years since I moved anything with a third party though, so my experiences are probably "stale".
I used Door to Door Car Carrying in 2016 to ship a running but no brakes Giulia Ti from Melbourne to Coffs Harbour. Excellent service all round and reasonable cost. They are based on the Gold Coast.

Thanks! I'll try them and CEVA.
I transported my 164Q down from Brisbane to Melbourne a couple of years back.
I used the website 'UShip' where you type the job in and the car carriers bid for your business.
CEVA offered to do it for around $750 .Others in the following 3 days came in lower and the next week I picked the car up from the drop off depot at Williams Landing for $340.
Thanks everyone! Probably going to pursue a vehicle closer to home now that we can drive home. More to follow...
The 'brokerage' firms I was trying to avoid given some of the horror stories. Happy to pay a premium to deal with the actual carrier.
Incidentally, if anyone needs to move a motorcycle in Melbourne I can recommend these guys:
