Title: 2006 156 Ti or JTS
Post by: clsport on March 18, 2015, 01:34:47 PM
I'm looking at purchasing a 2006 156 and the owner has told me that its a Ti but the car has a JTS badge but no Ti badge. Forgive my ignorance but these are 2 different cars? I've seen a few 2005 156 Ti's in the past but i haven't come across a 2006.

Help would be appreicated

I believe the JTS (Jet Thrust Stoichiometric)refers to the injection system that tailors the air to fuel ratio to a perfect 14 to 1
which improved the power 7 kw
yes it is the better one
as far as  reliabilty goes... no idea
cheers

Hi there,

There are subtle differences between the 156 ti and JTS that were sold in Australia in 04/05/06. To the best of my knowledge, if it is a ti, it will sport a ti badge, unless it's been repaired and the badge was left off.

The ti did of course run the JTS engine but it was definitely always badged as a ti.

The ti has red stitching on the black leather seats; the 17 inch rims are a tidier design than the JTS 17 inch rims which have little knobs between each spoke. The ti suspension setting is slightly lower and slightly firmer. The ti had a leather steering wheel, where the JTS generally had a timber wheel.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Brent

The JTS had a leather steering wheel with Audio controls on the buttons, no wood, but it may have been wood on the Selespeed.
The TI may have had a sunroof.
There was a TI, badge, which means, 'Turismo International' on the bootlid.
Check 'Alfa 156 ebay' and type up 'TI' badge and you will see what it looks like.
Also there are a 'TI' interior on '156 ebay' site, have a look to see what they look like.
More bolstering and red stitching.
They had the same JTS motor.
The JTS motor had 122 kilowatts and 205 newton metres of torque.
The TI came out in the Guigaro badged body, the last series.
Colin.

^All good stuff^

Essentially, JTS refers to the engine type. If it's a recent 156 with a four pot petrol engine it should be a JTS engine by default. Prior to this is was simply named ... a twinspark.

The Ti (Turismo internationale) refers to the trim level, it's the "highest" trim level in the 156.  It was introduced towards the end of the 156 lifecycle, I suspect to boost sales by flogging a very highly spec'd car cheaply prior to the replacement.

Check out my Alfa Romeo 156 Ti. It has JTS engine. Ti is like badge. See it has different wheels, retro seats with no armrest. Etc.
