Hi all I'm having an issue with my 33
I have just had this engine fully rebuilt
Now when she is sitting in traffic for ages she will overheat and shoot water out of the water reservoir and the temperature will rise from 1000 to 1300 and just keep rising and drooping
Can anyone on here pinpoint roughly what it could be as it's driving.me nuts
Check the basics replace the thermostat and fan switch if no good probably a waterpump or radiator leaking pressure
Water pump has been changed so has the thermostat
The fan is operating right
Not to sure what else ? Maybe cap not holding pressure?
Have the radiator tanks been removed and a have you examined the core for blockages?
(A question in principle as I do not know if the tanks are actually removable).
Is you fan running backwards?
Is your ignition timing correct.
Has the fuel mixture gone way too lean?
Thanks for the reply :)
Umm the radiator has been removed just before the whole rebuild so maybe I could have a possible airlock :/ dono till I pressure test it
The fan goes clockwise so I know it's working and spinning the right way
The carburettors and tappets were recently adjusted and tuned by automoda in sydney cost me a fortune
Timing is spot on aswell as ignition timing
Weirdly enough I have just realised when I am driving the car will idle fine as soon as I turn my headlights on it idles a bit lower
The change in idle speed is due to a load on the engine from the alternator trying to make up for the discharge from your battery that powers the lights.
Removing the radiator does not confirm that it is not blocked. The tanks need to be removed to expose the tubes and see if the tubes are blocked. If you don't know what I mean by the "tanks", they are the chambers at the bottom and the top of your radiator tubes (core). In the case of a cross flow radiator, they are on either side of the radiator core.
This is where I would look first.
