Title: Thermostat for 147 by Vernet, any recommendations?
Post by: Thevak on May 12, 2014, 05:20:51 PM
Has anyone had experience with thermostat manufacture by Vernet (from France)? I have found a source for $79? Is this reasonable?

No idea about Vernet, but i would give it a go, sounding like a broken record, but i have had 3 thermostats in the 156 in the last 5 years, Genuine Behr, late opening, After market Behr, leaking, After Market Facet, still ok, i would be willing to give any brand a try, must be something wrong with the original design, thermostat may be undersize and not up to job, i have found that the cheaper thermostats don't have a temperature sender fitted, the more expensive ones do, $79, whats the freight?, Colin.

Price sounds about right if it includes freight.
Just be careful that it's the correct housing. Compare it to the unit installed and be sure it has all pipes and sensors that you already have. As far as brand, as col said give it a go. UK owners use them and as far as thermostats go, they all fail after a couple of years regardless of brand.
