Title: gtv6 rear suspension bushes
Post by: tpalfa on September 01, 2010, 12:58:51 PM
Does anyone know where in Adelaide/Australia I can buy rear suspension bushes, springs and shocks for a '83 gtv6? I basically need them all. De Dion bush, swaybar bushes, watts linkage bushes, etc.

thanks.

In regards to the watt linkage bushes, the original bushes cannot be sourced new. You are better offer buying them aftermarket polyurthane types. Superpro offer them as a kit, so you get all bushes for you watt linkage. If you look up the fulcrum website there should be some retailer near you.

As for the dedion centre bushes, you can still buy them original from any alfa romeo spare part specialists. Same applies with sway bar bushes.

Received my full set of Watts linkage & anti roll bar bushes today from IAP (USA). Prompt - about a week - and cheap. Mine were for a 1984 GTV 2.0.

How much did that set you back, incl. postage? How did that compare to local pricing (assuming the same is available)?

The total included a 36mm half inch drive socket (USD17.95!) and postage - $140. Altogether there were 13 bushes covering the De Dion and anti roll bar. I couldn't get a local price but the rear engine mount was $80 posted, compared to $122 local.

thanks for the replies. I don't seem to be able to find the D shaped sway bar bushes.

I noticed the IAP site says

We carry two types of poly bushing: our Australian-made Red bushings, and the British-made Powerflex brand (yellow or blue).

Anyone know whether the "Australian-made Red bushings" are available here?

thanks

I got some original alfa bushes - does anyone know how much force is required to press out/in the bushes on the watts linkage? I was thinking of getting a 6 ton bench press from supercheap auto but dont know if its up to the job. (I know I can get the old ones out with a torch and hacksaw but would prefer to press them out and then I would still have to get the new ones in).

thanks.

I've always just used a stout block of wood and a big mallet to install suspension bushes in any vehicle, never had one resist.

Regards, Andrew.

Hi tpalfa,
You can get all the bushes you want from Cartourque Products at Kent Town, just ask Julie!.
As far as removing and refitting I generally use sockets and pieces of pipe in the vice to push them out and in.
Like a lot of guys on this Forum in Adelaide if you join the the local AROCA Division you get to know all this sort of information through the club and it's members.
Cheers
Andrew

got all my poly bushes (sway, dion,  etc) for the the back end from Super Cheap, but I had to wait almost 2 weeks for them to arrive. I bought my son a set from Repco and they had them ready for pick up in 4 days but charged more.
Can't remember exact costs but,  overall it wasn't a lot.
